  • Patent number: 4469220
Abstract: A magnetic coupling assembly for driving a conveyor roll from a power drive while automatically disengaging the conveyor roll from the power drive when an accumulation occurs of the parts being transported by the conveyor. In one embodiment, a drive sprocket and conveyor roll are mounted on a fixed axle between a pair of spaced conveyor side rails. The conveyor roll includes a tube portion having a permanent magnet mounted therein and the drive sprocket includes a sprocket hub having a field face member secured to one of its ends in opposing relationship to the permanent magnet. By varying the air gap between the permanent magnet and field face member, the torque capacity is varied, thereby permitting slippage between the drive sprocket and conveyor roll at different torque levels.

  • Patent number: 4467912
Abstract: Apparatus for supporting book blocks during the movement thereof comprises a pair of flat plate-like jaws, one of the jaws being relatively movable with respect to the other. A clamping force for the movable jaw is developed through the use of a spring element comprising a plurality of series connected cup-type springs.

  • Patent number: 4467911
Abstract: A two-piece plastic clevis device for a monorail conveyor trolley system, the device having an upper trolley connected member and a manually engageable and disengageable lower clevis member which is connected to and supports a parts carrying hanger. The upper clevis member has a flanged member on each side of a medial plate or stem, the lower member having a pair of spaced apart hub-supported arcuate bodies that engage the flanged members on each side of the medial plate and suspend the hanger at and from the surfaces of engagement.

  • Patent number: 4467907
Abstract: Fast-dump feeding apparatus includes a hopper having an associated vertical feed chute. The hopper is formed with an openable door at its lower end and the feed chute is bottomed by a shutter. Both door and shutter may be opened to permit rapid evacuation of the hopper and chute. A pusher having a path across the top of the shutter is adapted to push individual fastener parts through a side opening in the chute immediately above the shutter. The pusher includes a pneumatic channel terminating at the front of the pusher to direct a blast of air toward the individual part to assist in moving it away from the chute.

  • Patent number: 4466533
Abstract: Wear clips for protecting the edges of auger-type blades and similarly curved blade edges, are formed of steel channels filled with a matrix of irregular shaped and sized, small, hard carbide particles and a soft, ductile, brazing material. The clips are arranged in an end-to-end row with a slight gap between each adjacent pair. The clips are welded to the blade and to each other. Breakage of the brittle carbide particles and of the matrix, due to impact forces, is avoided due to relative movement of the particles within the surrounding brazing material under impact loads. The clip channel may be made of a flattened tube which is filled with the matrix and then cut into short clip lengths. Thus, the exposed surface of the tube, which temporarily forms an integral cover for the channel, is rapidly worn away by abrasion during use of the blade, to expose the matrix.
