  • Patent number: 8867752
Abstract: A method for processing sound data is provided for the reconstruction of multi-channel audio data on the basis at least of data on a reduced number of channels and of spatialization data. A test is carried out to determine whether the spatialization data received are valid. If the test is positive, a spatialization value is predicted according to a per respective model of a plurality of models. A prediction model is chosen on the basis of the spatialization values thus predicted and on the basis of the spatialization data received, to permit, in case of subsequent reception of defective spatialization data, a prediction according to this chosen model of a spatialization value and to use this predicted spatialization value for the reconstruction of the multi-channel audio data.

  • Patent number: 8848928
Abstract: Automatic measurements are made of audio presence and level in an audio signal by direct processing of an MPEG data stream representing the audio signal, without reconstructing the audio signal. Sub-band data is extracted from the data stream, and the extracted sub-band data is dequantized and denormalized. An audio level for the dequantized and denormalized sub-band data is measured without reconstructing the audio signal. Channel characteristics are used in measuring the audio level of the sub-band data, wherein the channel characteristics are used to weight the measured levels. The measured levels are compared against at least one threshold to determine whether an alarm should be triggered.

  • Patent number: 8805561
Abstract: An audio user interface is provided in which items are represented in an audio field by corresponding synthesized sound sources from where sounds related to the items appear to emanate. An audio cursor, in the form of a synthesised sound source from which a distinctive cursor sound emanates, is movable in the audio field under user control. Upon the cursor being moved close to an item-representing sound source, a related audible indication is generated by modifying the sounds emanating from at least one of that item-representing sound source and the cursor. In one embodiment, this audible indication also indicates the current distance between the cursor and item-representing sound source and also the direction of the latter from the cursor.

  • Patent number: 8755531
Abstract: An audio system receives a multi-channel signal which is fed to a controller (121) that generates a first drive signal for a first sound emitter (111) by combining signals of a plurality of the channels. The first drive signal has a signal component contribution from a first bandwidth of each channel of the multi-channel signal. The multi-channel signal is also fed to another controller (115) which generates second drive signals for second sound emitters (101-109). The second drive signals are generated from a single channel signals of the multi-channel signal and in a second bandwidth having a lower cut-off frequency which is above 950 Hz for a 3 dB gain attenuation relative to an average gain for a frequency band extending 1 kHz above the lower cut-off frequency and higher than a lower cut-off frequency of the first bandwidth. A delay processor (125) introduces a delay for signal components of the first drive signal relative a corresponding second drive signal.

  • Patent number: 8751029
Abstract: A reverberant characteristic of an acoustic space is superimposed on an audio signal that is received by an apparatus. The apparatus decomposes the audio signal into an estimated original dry signal component and an estimated reverberant characteristic of the acoustic space. Estimation of the original dry signal component and the reverberant characteristic of the acoustic space is based on determination of an estimated impulse response of the acoustic space from the received audio signal. Once the audio signal is decomposed, the estimated original dry signal component and the estimated reverberant characteristic of the acoustic space may be independently modified by the apparatus. The modified or unmodified estimated original dry signal component and estimated reverberant characteristic of the acoustic space may be combined by the apparatus to produce one or more adjusted frequency spectra.
