  • Patent number: 5637325
Abstract: A film strip with a damaged end portion is repaired by using jig means for severing the strip at a fixed distance from a pre-existing locating hole to remove the damaged end portion and then attaching a pre-formed replacement end member in the same location by reference to the same locating hole. The replacement end member has the same edge configuration and hole features as the original film end portion and overlaps the severed film end to permit it to be adhesively bonded thereto.

  • Patent number: 5629038
Abstract: A granular feed nutrient supplement is formed by pelletizing a mixture of minerals, vitamins and other nutrients along with a carrier such as cornmeal or the like and optionally a lubricant such as fat and/or a binder. The pellets are rolled to a desired size and combined with bulk feed. The size of the formed granules are maintained close to the avenge particle size of the bulk feed thereby ensuring that the granules remain suspended in the feed and do not separate. Preferably the density of the granules is close to (.+-.30%) the density of the feed.

  • Patent number: 5624524
Abstract: A plastic laminate includes an acrylic sheet and layer of paint disposed thereon. A polyester sheet has a layer of adhesive disposed thereon. The adhesive layer is bonded directly to the paint layer. The laminate is formed by applying the paint layer to the acrylic sheet and thoroughly drying the paint layer. The polyester sheet is heated to a temperature to melt the hot melt adhesive and the heated adhesive is applied to the paint layer under pressure while the paint layer is being cooled. The entire laminate is then also cooled to room temperature under pressure.

  • Patent number: 5624515
Abstract: A multi-filament yarn is subjected to soft twist of 4 to 9 twistings in every 10 cm in a single direction thereby forming a warp yarn. Weft yarns are passed, at a density of 1 to 3 yarns in every 5 cm, crosswise over and under a plurality of the warp yarns parallel-arranged in a set width, thereby forming a cord fabric. The cord fabric is subjected to adhesion treatment with an adhesive so that an adhesive content per unit area thereof reaches 2 to 5%, is subjected to heat treatment so that the warp yarns reaches 1 to 4% in heat shrinkage percentage and is then cut at set lengths thereby obtaining short fibers.

  • Patent number: 5614051
Abstract: A panel assembly and method for manufacturing the panel assembly, especially adapted for use in vehicles, includes a panel of predetermined size and geometry wherein a surface of the panel to receive a gasket is primed using a material especially adapted to prepare the panel surface to bond with the gasket. The desired gasket profile is molded separately from the panel from a polymeric material. Following formation of the gasket, the panel is located thereon and pressed into intimate contact with the gasket for a prescribed period of time. The panel and attached panel are removed as an assembly. Additional or optional steps may be followed including preheating the panel and primed surface prior to bonding to shorten the cycle time and improve adhesion. Moreover, heat may be applied to the contact boundary between the panel and gasket substantially simultaneously with the application of pressure. The steps of heating and applying pressure may be repeated to insure proper adhesion.

  • Patent number: 5605590
Abstract: The method includes sealing the stator bar end connections from within the stator bar end fitting. Particularly, a low viscosity epoxy is initially applied from within the chamber of the end fitting by use of a boroscope and a syringe-type applicator, the low viscosity epoxy being applied to all joints between the adjacent strands of the stator bar and between the fitting and the outermost strands of the stator bar. A high viscosity epoxy is then applied over the low viscosity epoxy using the boroscope and applicator to provide a thick barrier seal between the liquid coolant in the chamber and the brazing material. The epoxy is then cured. The process ensures that the brazing material is isolated from the liquid coolant by the barrier seal whereby potential leaks are prevented and partially developed leaks or leaks extant are arrested because sealant material is disposed at the liquid coolant/braze interface.

  • Patent number: 5603787
Abstract: A plastic container for pourable liquids such as detergents has a drain back feature and has an internal thread for receiving an externally threaded cap which also serves as a measuring cup for the liquid. The container is formed in two pieces, a container body and a separately formed pour spout component which is assembled to the container finish preferably by ultrasonic welding. In preferred embodiments a lip of the pour spout component is pressed and welded down onto an annular top surface of the container finish, or down into an annular recess on the container finish. The ultrasonic welding operation is accompanied by motion and pressure, simultaneously deforming and welding the top edge of the pour spout component wall down onto the container finish, so that the connection forms a liquid tight seal.

  • Patent number: 5591290
Abstract: The adhesive bonding strength of a pressure sensitive adhesive on a laminate is selectively modified by applying a discontinuous layer of a non-adhesive material to the pressure sensitive adhesive. Preferably, the laminate is a preformed, label stock, including a label or substrate having a pressure sensitive adhesive on one surface thereof and a release sheet overlying the adhesive. The label is first delaminated from the release sheet to expose the oppositely facing surface of the label and the release sheet. A discontinuous layer of the non-adhesive material is then printed on either the release sheet or the adhesive. The release sheet is relaminated back onto the label to form a modified laminate with new adhesive properties. When the label is then separated from the release layer, the non-adhesive material adheres to the pressure sensitive adhesive to reduce the exposed surface area of the adhesive.
