Abstract: In a computer-implemented review method, a machine-readable representation that encodes an identification code associated with a ratable entity is decoded to obtain the identification code. The identification code is submitted to a central computer system, and a ratings form that can be used for providing a review of the ratable entity is received from the central computer system. A review of the ratable entity is provided to the central computer system using the review form.
Abstract: A system and a method for testing a magnetic stripe decoding chip are provided. The system includes a host, a digital-to-analog converter, and a testing device. The host outputs simulation signal data. The digital-to-analog converter receives the simulation signal data and generates a test waveform signal representing a test string. The testing device includes a signal input terminal, a signal conversion circuit, a chip slot, and a processor. The terminal receives the test waveform signal. The chip slot is configured to receive a decoding chip. The circuit includes a transformer connected between the terminal and the chip slot, and is configured to couple the test waveform signal into a pseudo track signal. The processor receives a decoded string generated after decoding the pseudo track signal by the decoding chip. Through comparing the decoded string with the test string, a decoding function of the decoding chip can be determined.
Abstract: A biometric scanner comprising a fingerprint module, a first plurality of fingerprint sensors, and a sensor circuit within the fingerprint module. The first plurality of fingerprint sensors is ergonomically positioned on the fingerprint module to accommodate a second plurality of fingertips of a human hand. The sensor circuit is coupled to the first plurality of fingerprint sensors wherein fingerprints of the second plurality are captured simultaneously by the sensor circuit. A biometric scanner system and a method of manufacturing a biometric scanner are also provided.
Abstract: The invention relates to identification documents, and in particular to pre-printing processing covert images, such as UV or IR images, provided on such identification documents. In one implementation, the invention provides a method of processing a digital image that is to be printed on a surface of an identification document as a fluorescing-capable image to improve the quality of the image. Edges or boundaries are detected within the image, the detected edges or boundaries forming an intermediate image. The edges or boundaries within the image are emphasized, and the emphasized image is used for printing the covert image. In some implementations of the invention, a digital watermark is embedded in the covert image.

Abstract: This invention relates to an anti-fake identification system and method capable of automatically connecting to web address, in which an electronic tag of commodity is scanned by a reader device so as to read the identification code into the computer device; the identification code includes a web address of a remote maker to which the computer can automatically connect so as to transmit the identification code to the web address; a verifying device receives and verifies the identification code at the web address, and produce an authentication code according to the identification code after the identification code passes through verification so as to confirm the accuracy of the identification code. The method comprises the following steps of: reading an identification code of commodity; transmitting the identification code to the web address; verifying the identification code and generating an authentication code when the identification code is accurate.

Abstract: A reader and method to allow verification or access to an RFID component of a device using analog optical properties of the RFID device. In the method, a reader analyzes optical properties of the device, obtains information on these properties from the reader or from data on the device. These optical analog properties are required to be verified prior to access to the RFID data from the RFID component.
Abstract: The invention relates to a chip card with at least one application for which an implementation (4) and an entry (5) referring to the implementation (4) are present on the chip card (1). The inventive chip card is characterized in that a plurality of entries (5) referring to the same implementation (4) are present.
Abstract: In an apparatus for optically reading a graphic symbol composed of a plurality of optically identifiable unit sections of information, a first image pickup unit has a first photodetector and picks up a first optical image of the graphic symbol based on light detected by the first photodetector. A second image pickup unit has a second photodetector and configured to pick up a second optical image of the graphic symbol based on light detected by the second photodetector. A correcting unit corrects a light intensity level of at least one section of one of the first and second optical images based on a light intensity level of at least one section of the other of the first and second optical images. The at least one section corresponds to at least one of the unit sections of information of the graphic symbol.
Abstract: A dispensing machine, and related operating method, includes a device for dispensing packaged and/or unpackaged edible goods or beverages, a control unit connected to one or more electrically-activated parts of the machine, a user interface to show information to the user and retrieve input commands from the user to be sent to the control unit. The user interface is a graphic user interface GUI comprising a touch-panel integrated in a graphic screen to display multimedia content. The content or form of the information shown on the screen is changed by the control unit based on at least one parameter related to any of the operative status of the machine, the location wherein the machine is running, the calendar date and/or the daily time, statistics indicative of previous selections made by user(s), or the signal provided by at least one sensor of the machine detecting proximity of the user(s).
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a financial account with incentives. In one implementation, a method is provided that includes receiving a selection of at least one identified merchant from a customer, the customer being associated with the financial account. The method also includes providing a first incentive to the financial account for one or more purchases made with the financial account at a merchant other than the identified merchant. Further, the method may include providing a second incentive to the financial account for one or more purchases made at the identified merchant with the financial account, wherein the first incentive is different than the second incentive.

Abstract: An identification plate having a chip module that includes a chip, a coupling element connected to the chip, and an antenna module comprising an antenna lead. The coupling element is coupled to the antenna lead by a coupling field that creates a contactless coupling. An adjustable damping element is arranged in the proximity of the coupling element. The damping element projects into the coupling field and dampens the coupling field. In this manner, a maximum value of a transmitting and receiving range of the identification plate can be reduced.

Abstract: A simple, non-intrusive, fraud free payment method for customers to make Internet purchases without using credit cards or revealing personal information. Customers can purchase any specific dollar amount of pay codes via on-line purchase by logging into their financial institution and purchasing the codes, via phone banking (using mobile phone or fixed telephone line) or via Automated Teller Machine (ATM). There is no need for the customer to first open an account with the payment service. The easy and fast set-up of a secure payment gateway for website merchants to receive payments for their goods purchased at their websites, eliminates the need of setting up a merchant account, chargeback and being penalized by banks for chargeback on sales. The amount due to the web merchant from the Internet transaction is credited directly into the merchant's bank account when the transaction and payment is approved by the customer's bank.
