  • Patent number: 7618168
Abstract: A shatter glass guard and venting effect design for a fixture of a luminaire adapted to provide adequate shatter guard protection for the purpose of preventing glass from a broken lamp from being released from the fixture. An annular ring of perforated material is attached to an open end of a reflector. A lens is attached to the outside surface of the annular ring and is dimensioned to expose a portion of the perforated material to allow for venting of heat from within the fixture. The lens and lamp can be installed or removed from the fixture after installation without access from the top of the light housing. The lens when mounted becomes integral with the reflector and moves with the reflector should the reflector need to be adjusted or tilted for aiming. The lens and annular ring combination provides adequate shatter guard protection and venting of the fixture.

  • Patent number: 7618162
Abstract: An illumination-redistribution lens comprising a thick aspheric lens collecting a high proportion of the luminous output of a compact LED with a quasi-hemispheric pattern. After receiving the highly nonuniform illuminance from the nearby LED, the lower surface refractively deflects these rays into a less diverging angular pattern that results in uniform illuminance on the upper surface of the lens, which itself is shaped so its distribution of slope angles refractively deflects the uniform illuminance distribution into an exiting beam that will produce uniform illuminance on a distant target, such as a table below a ceiling-mounted unit. When square-cut sections of such lenses are laterally arrayed to form a downlight, a uniform rectangular spot will be produced on the target.

  • Patent number: 7614767
Abstract: The present invention provides systems and apparatuses for dynamically controlling the operational modes of a single luminaire or a group of networked luminaires configured to deliver an illumination pattern having a decorative colored glow surrounding a central region of substantially uniform brightness. A control module for the luminaire is configured to drive three dimmable fluorescent ballasts, as well as a LED module. A variety of operational modes including different schemes for color mixing and color cycle control can be selected by a user and implemented by a microcontroller. A group of luminaires is connected in a standard communication protocol-based master-slave configuration, where the slave units respond to commands received from the master unit, and the last slave unit automatically engages terminating and biasing resistors for proper operation of the network.
