Patent number: 12383257Abstract: A suturing device comprising an elongated member including a cavity formed in a surface thereof, a needle passage, and a vacuum port. When the elongated member is inserted into a body including tissue and a vacuum is applied to the cavity, the tissue is captured by the cavity. A needle pusher is operable to move a needle having a sutured attached thereto through the tissue until a first end of the needle is captured by a needle capturing assembly. A clamp coupled to the elongated member is used to extract the needle from the needle capturing assembly and reposition the needle with suture attached to be re-engaged by the needle pusher. The cavity may include a plurality of cavity portions for capturing multiple contiguous portions of the tissue such that a single pass of the needle and the suture results in the suturing of the multiple portions of the tissue.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2023Date of Patent: August 12, 2025Assignee: TSYMM INNOVATIONS LLCInventors: Allan Wulc, Joel Bernstein, Douglas Hudson, Bruce Bernstein

Patent number: 12376938Abstract: An intravascular treatment device is presented having an expandable frame made up of circular struts, straight struts, and bent struts forming a frame with circumference that varies over the length of the frame. Radiopaque markers can be positioned on the bent struts to indicate outer circumferences of the frame along the length of the frame. The device can be a stent or a clot retriever. If the device is a clot retriever, the proximal end of the expandable frame can be attached to a guide wire and the distal end of the expandable frame can be free to slide over the guide wire when the frame moves from a collapsed state to an expanded state and vice versa.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2021Date of Patent: August 5, 2025Assignee: DEPUY SYNTHES PRODUCTS, INC.Inventor: Juan Lorenzo

Patent number: 12376865Abstract: A tourniquet for occluding blood flow to a limb is improved by the addition of proximal and distal strain gauges. The proximal strain gauge may be monitored under conditions of total blood flow occlusion for time-varying signals indicative of volumetric limb changes arising from the subject's blood flow in the proximal section of the limb. Upon a change in limb occlusion pressure, the signals from the proximal strain gauge can be observed to change also, and the working pressure in the tourniquet can be adjusted safely in response. Automated control systems may further use inputs from a distal strain gauge and/or from a sensor that detects induced pressure changes within the tourniquet to improve the control of the tourniquet working pressure during operation to avoid unwanted blood flow past the tourniquet.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2024Date of Patent: August 5, 2025Assignee: MARTURION ELECTRONICS LIMITEDInventors: Andrew Barr, James S. Patent number: 12138186Abstract: This document describes devices, systems, and methods for automatically deploying intravascular devices. For example, this document describes devices, systems, and methods for automatically deploying and controlling intravascular catheter-based devices for treating catastrophic bleeding from large and medium size vessels such as, but not limited to, the aorta or iliac arteries. In some embodiments, an operator/care giver will simply press the system against the patient's body proximate to a desired site of insertion, or will attach the system to the patient proximate to the desired site of insertion. The operator will then activate the system. Thereafter, the system will use built in imaging (e.g., ultrasound) to locate a proper insertion point and then deploy an access needle to attain vascular access. With that, the system will then automatically insert the intravascular device into the patient.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2019Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: Board of Regents of the University of NebraskaInventors: Jason N.
