  • Patent number: 6641317
Abstract: A draining structure for keyboard an upper cover having a top surface forming a number of recessed areas for accommodation of movable pushbuttons. A lower cover is releasable attached to a bottom side of the upper cover. Each recessed area has at least one draining hole, preferably in the form of an elongated slot defined in a sidewall of the recessed area. The lower cover forms a groove corresponding in position to the draining holes of the upper cover for receiving liquid from the recessed areas of the upper cover via the draining holes. A number of openings or elongated slots is defined in the bottom of the groove for expelling the liquid out of the casing. A partition wall is formed in the lower cover for separating the groove from an electric part receiving space in which electric parts are arranged for preventing electric short caused by the liquid contacting the electric parts.

  • Patent number: 6629788
Abstract: Apparatus and method for adjusting and maintaining printhead-to-platen spacing in a printing device, wherein the printing device includes a printhead-carrying carriage and the carriage is pivotally mounted on and reciprocally shiftable along a guide shaft. An anti-rotation rail mounted on a hanger in the printer engages the carriage and determines its position relative to the printer's platen. A clamp structure is connected to the anti-rotation rail and extends through the hanger and is operable for clamping the anti-rotation rail to the hanger. An adjuster mechanism connected to the clamp structure is operable for selectively shifting the anti-rotation rail vertically upwardly or downwardly to position and maintain the carriage, and correspondingly, the printhead a preselected, nominal distance from the platen.

  • Patent number: 6629791
Abstract: A traction device has an origin cylinder (1) of heat-sensitive ink ribbon (2), a rewinding cylinder (5), traction means and a marking header. The device prevents unused segments of ribbon being left between markings. The device has a moving support (6) guiding the ribbon (2) along an additional path (16), braking means (10, 11, 12, 14) for the origin cylinder (1). When the ribbon (2) is tractioned and the origin cylinder is braked, the support (6) is forced to move against the action of an elastic element (13), reducing the additional path (16). Thus, after a marking (a-b) the ribbon and the support (6) move back so that the next marking (b-d) is made immediately after the first marking (a-b). The braking means, after one or more markings, are released, unrolling a length of ribbon (2) from the origin cylinder, then braking again, with the process repeated.

  • Patent number: 6626595
Abstract: An automatic sheet-feeding device of a printer includes a sheet loading section, delivery rollers, and a separating plate. When recording sheets placed on the sheet loading section are supplied, the delivery rollers are rotationally driven in contact with the sheet loading section, and the inclination of the separating plate with respect to the surface of the sheet loading section is changed to an angle that allows the uppermost recording sheet to be separated one by one. Except when the recording sheet is supplied from the sheet loading section, the delivery rollers are separated from the sheet loading section, and the separating plate is inclined substantially perpendicularly to the surface of the sheet loading section to hold the recording sheets.

  • Patent number: 6626103
Abstract: An inverter (1) for thin, flat products (2), especially printing substrates in a printing machine, with belts (7, 8) positioned over two deflection pulleys (3, 4, 5, 6) that are set together at 180° between the deflection pulleys (3, 4, 5, 6). Such inverter is configured so that the product (2) and the belts (7, 8) move precisely in their reference positions. This is achieved by the fact that, in the transport direction (9), after a setting region (10) at least three guide rolls (11, 12, 13) are mounted on the supporting strand sides (7′, 8′) of belts (7, 8) in alternating arrangement and at least one of the guide rolls (11, 12 13) has a retaining collar (14) on at least one side and at least one guide roll (18) is arranged before the setting region (10). Further, at least one guide device (19, 20, 21) is arranged to guide product (2) to facilitate inversion.

  • Patent number: 6623193
Abstract: An ink ribbon cartridge has first and second tubes (130, 132) for holding an ink ribbon. The tubes have slots formed in each end. Spindles (140, 142, 162, 164) are attached at the ends of the tubes. The spindles have a disk portion and an end which is received by tube slots. One of the spindles has a cantilevered member (196) which engages a slot of a tube and allows rotation of the tube in only one direction. The cantilevered member has an end having a radial edge (200) and a ramp (202) adjacent the straight side. Rotation of the spindle in one direction abuts the radial edge against a wall of the slot thus providing a positive drive and allowing rotation of the tube with the spindle. Rotation of the spindle in a second direction opposite to the first direction causes the ramp side to contact and slide along a wall of the slot, thus deflecting the cantilevered member inward toward the center of the spindle.

  • Patent number: 6616354
Abstract: Apparatus for adjusting the spacing in a printer between a printhead and the travel path for print media which moves through the printer. The printhead is borne by a carriage which is rotatably mounted adjacent an elongate bearing rail wherein the rotated condition of the carriage relative to that rail establishes the desired spacing. First and second relative moveable bearing structures mounted on the carriage include bearing surfaces which can alternatively adjust the bearing structures so that one or the other, but not both, determine the rotated condition of the carriage.

  • Patent number: 6606946
Abstract: A sheet offset printing method and a sheet offset printing press includes altering flow relationships in an interior of a housing of a sheet delivery of a sheet-fed printing machine to prevent uncontrolled spread of powder in the housing by extracting powder-laden air from the housing and/or feeding air into the housing from outside at a point along a return belt of a sheet conveying device. Air currents are channeled inside the housing by feeding air not laden with powder into the housing and/or leading the air into an air flow path along the return belt downstream of the point with respect to a return belt motion direction to transport the unladen air toward a printing unit by a drag effect of the return belt and/or impeding/blocking a supply of powder-charged air from around a conveyor belt of the sheet-conveyor or a powder-scattering device into a flow path along the return belt.

  • Patent number: 6602008
Abstract: A print-medium transport unit including discharge rollers, a paper guide, and a lock member. The discharge rollers transport post-printed paper toward an outlet and can hold the leading end of the paper. The paper guide is placed upstream from the discharge rollers, and guides the leading end of the paper into the discharge rollers. The paper guide is rotatably supported so that the upstream side thereof opens a transport path of the paper, whereby when the leading end of the paper is held by the discharge rollers, the transport path allows the paper to be curved like a loop. The lock member locks the rotation of the paper guide when the leading end of the paper is guided into the paper guide. When the leading end of the paper reaches a predetermined position, the locking of the lock member is released.

  • Patent number: 6602009
Abstract: There is provided a tape cutting mechanism for a tape printing apparatus, which allows a user to operate a manual operation lever while holding the apparatus casing in his hands, with an excellent operability, and thereby enabling a tape-shaped member to be cut efficiently. A cutter is disposed to face a tape exit for cutting the tape-shaped member from a direction orthogonal thereto the tape-shaped member. A manual operation lever is pivotally supported in the rear corner portion of the casing, for causing the cutter to perform cutting operation, and extends from a rear end serving as a center of pivotal motion thereof to a front end serving as a force point to which a force is manually applied by the lever operation, in a manner bent frontward, along the casing. A pivot arm extends from one end for being engaged with an input portion of the cutter to another end serving as a center of pivotal motion thereof, in a direction substantially orthogonal to a direction of cutting operation of the cutter.
