  • Patent number: 6752037
Abstract: A robot hand tool linkage device includes a locking mechanism and an actuation shaft driven between a lock position and a release position. A piston moves an actuation shaft upward and downward to cam outward a plurality push rods urging outward a plurality arc-shaped locking members. The locking members are captured under an arcuate surface of a tool plate which is thereby attached. A resilient member engages an outer groove in each of the locking members to urge them inward. When the outward force on the locking members is released, the resilient member moves the locking members inward to reduce their combined diameter sufficiently to disengage from the arcuate surface, and thereby to release the tool plate.

  • Patent number: 6748819
Abstract: A robot is disclosed in which load torque imposed on motors is reduced and therefore small-sized motors can be used. In the robot, an arm member, a first link, a second link and a third link constitute a parallel linkage, and the first link and the third link are coaxially pivotally supported on a base. With a pivotal shaft for pivotally connecting the second link and the third link, one end of a fourth link having shorter link length than the link length of the third link is pivotally connected to the second and third links and one end of a fifth link having the same link length as that of the fourth link is pivotally connected to the other end of the fourth link. The other end of the fifth link is pivotally supported on the base with a pivotal shaft to which the rotary shaft of the motor is coupled, so that the fifth link can move according to the rotation of the motor.

  • Patent number: 6745643
Abstract: A detachable pedal assembly including an axle assembly and a binding assembly with an automatic release mechanism is disclosed. The axle assembly includes a thrust bearing and threads to engage the crank. The binding assembly includes a pedal and clasp that detachably receives and locks the thrust bearing of the axle assembly in operational engagement. When a predetermined force is applied the binding assembly automatically releases from the axle assembly to permit the cyclist to dismount or avoid injury in an accident. Furthermore, the position of the release mechanism to the side of the binding assembly permits the binding assembly to be offset from the axle axis, thereby improving increased riding efficiency, lower aerodynamic drag, and increased turning clearance.

  • Patent number: 6746151
Abstract: A fluid dynamic bearing includes a shaft and a sleeve which are supported for relative rotation by fluid in the gap therebetween. A capillary seal at one end of the bearing prevents fluid from leaking out. The seal is defined between the hub and the sleeve, which are in relative rotation, and diverge from one another in the region where the capillary seal is established. The gap which is incorporated in the capillary seal is in airway communication with the gap between the shaft and the sleeve; but the capillary seal is defined by an outer surface of the sleeve and is substantially parallel to the gap between the shaft and the sleeve. The capillary seal is radially spaced from the region where one of two journal bearing groove sets is defined. The grooves sets may be located so that they are balanced about the center of gravity of the system.

  • Patent number: 6746352
Abstract: A chain drive assembly for an internal combustion engine comprises a chain tensioner (6) that acts upon a chain (2) that is used to drive the cam shafts (4) of the engine. The tensioner has a hydraulically actuated plunger (30) which is moveable within a housing and biasing means in the form of a solenoid (34), compression spring or motor that urges the plunger outwards of the housing at least when there is no hydraulic pressure. The tensioner is controlled by means of a control unit (8) that receives signals from various transducers that transmit signals providing information in relation to the performance of the engine. The control unit receives the measured information, calculates the desired tension to be applied to the chain and transmits the control signal to the chain tensioner so as to operate the biasing means or control the hydraulic pressure so that the desired chain tension is applied.

  • Patent number: 6742625
Abstract: A lubrication device lubricates traveling lubrication sites, such as on a belt (1), in particular, on a roller or chain belt (1). The lubrication device includes a lubricating apparatus (2) having a catch (C) that is capable of assuming a resting position and a catching position relative to the belt (1). In the catching position, a lubricating head (D) of the lubricating apparatus (2) is moved to a lubrication site by relative lateral motion between the belt (1) and the lubricating apparatus (2) in order to supply lubricant to the lubricating site. At the end of the run path, the lubricating head (D) as well as the catch (C) moves relative to the belt (1) to return back to the resting position. Also, before or simultaneously while the catch (C) is brought into engagement with the belt (1), the lubricating apparatus (2) can be extended in a longitudinal direction of the lubrication site motion at a boosting speed, which is greater than zero and less than the speed of the belt (1).
