  • Patent number: 4869464
Abstract: A staple removing device includes a pair of jaws having portions which are provided at an angle with respect to a corresponding pair of handles. The pair of jaws are pivotable about a common pivot pin. A palm rest extends from a bracket which is attached to a jaw and a corresponding handle. In operation, the palm rest is positioned generally in line with the jaws and a staple to be removed. Additionally, the palm rest is positioned so that an operator can comfortably apply a pushing force thereon with one hand, while gripping the pair of handles with the other hand. The palm rest is further positioned so that a pushing force applied thereto, by an operator's hand, is transferred along a substantially straight line toward a staple to be removed.

  • Patent number: 4865295
Abstract: A self-deploying stabilizing support jack is presented which stabilizes and positions a recreational vehicle or trailer. The support jack comprises a bracket, a two-cylinder, lift arms and a stabilizing sleeve. The lift arms and cylinder are attached to the bracket at separate, offset first and second points so that when the ram of the cylinder contacts the foot of the lift arm, the entire apparatus is raised to a horizontal position. A stabilizing sleeve attached to the lift and surrounding the cylinder stabilizes the the device from lateral movement. An intermediate third pivot point in the lift arm helps reduce stress upon raising. Also provided is an automatically released pressure valve for the cylinder and a signalling device to warn the operator when the support jack is in the deployed position. A safety circuit also automatically raises any support jack that is not in the horizontal safety position should the ignition be turned to the "ON" position.

  • Patent number: 4865300
Abstract: An apparatus for handling tubing as the tubing is fed to a severing blade for severing into cut sections of predetermined length. The tube handling apparatus includes clamping jaws positioned at the location of the severing blade and a feed tunnel which is arranged rearwardly of the clamping jaws. The feed tunnel includes fingers at its front end which are telescopically received in drilled slots formed on the internal periphery of the clamping jaws so that even very short remnants of tubing occurring after the last full length section of tubing is cut will be maintained in alignment with the tube feed axis by the fingers of the feed tunnel to preclude movement of the remnant tubing into a position of disorientation or dislodgment where it would interfere with the operation of the tube handling apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4848036
Abstract: A grinding machine for grinding a tip of a drill bit including a grindstone rotatably provided on a base; a drill bit holder provided on one side of the grindstone, the drill bit holder being pivotable about an axis parallel to the rotating axis of the grindstone and holding the drill bit in an inclined position at a predetermined angle relative to the grinding surface of the grindstone; and a drill bit feeder which moves the drill bit toward the grindstone so that the tip of the drill bit is brought into contact with the grinding surface and ground by the grindstone. If the drill bit holder is pivoted when the tip of the drill bit is brought into contact with the rotating grindstone, the drill bit held by a drill bit presser mounted on the drill bit holder is turned about its own axis so that the tip is ground into substantially a cone shape with a desirable rake angle and rake angle surface.

  • Patent number: 4848760
Abstract: An apparatus for clamping tire tubes for repair thereof. The apparatus includes a base with a frame extending upwardly therefrom. A mandrel is attached to the upper end of the frame. A vertically movable actuating rod is positioned adjacent the frame and biased downwardly by a spring, the force of which may be adjusted. The lower end of the actuating rod is connected to a foot pedal for overcoming the force of the spring and raising the rod. The upper end of the rod has a yoke assembly connected thereto. The yoke assembly has a substantially U-shaped yoke forming a pair of upwardly extending arms, each arm having a substantially horizontal clamping bar connected thereto. The yoke is preferably at least partially flexible so that the arms will deflect outwardly as a result of the downward force exerted by the spring when the clamping bars engage a tire tube positioned on the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 4819921
Abstract: A vice has a base fixed to the worktable of a machine, a slider slidable on the base and a fixing-releasing mechanism for selectively fixing the slider to the base and releasing the slider from the base. The fixing-releasing mechanism is provided with an actuator extending through a large hole formed in the base and engageable with the base and the slider. When not applied by pressurized fluid, the actuator fixes the slider to the base, and when applied by the fluid, it releases the slider from the base for the positional adjustment of the slider. The vice also has a piston-cylinder assembly composed of a cylinder tube and a piston assembly slidable in the cylinder tube and surrounding a lead screw in a telescopic manner. When applied by pressurized fluid, the piston assembly as well as the lead screw advances to move a movable clamp element on the slider towards a stationary clamp element fixed on the slider, for clamping a work between both the clamp elements.
