    Abstract: Provided is a hot-dip galvannealed steel sheet for hot stamping use, in which a base steel sheet contains Si in an amount of 0.7% or more, and which has excellent joint strength at a spot-welded part and can exhibit excellent adhesion to a coating film after hot stamping and coating with requiring little restriction of a hot stamp step. In the hot-dip galvannealed steel sheet, a base steel sheet contains, in mass %, 0.10 to 0.5% of C, 0.7 to 2.5% of Si, 1.5 to 3% of Mn and 0.01 to 0.5% of Al. The hot-dip galvannealed steel sheet is characterized in that the Mn concentration in a plating layer is 0.20% or more, the plated amount is 75 g/m2 or less, and the oxygen concentration at the interface between the plating layer and the base steel sheet is 0.50% or less.

    Abstract: A pilot assembly and method for metal forming dies has a generally cylindrical pilot with a stripper that strips stock from the pilot when metal forming dies diverge. The pilot assembly is secured to one die member by a fastener by itself or in combination with a window mount. A spring within the pilot assembly contacts the stripper to force the stripper to reciprocate when the dies are pulled apart. Thus, the pilot assembly helps locate the stock within the metal forming die while also having a stripper to help strip the stock from the pilot.

    Abstract: A method and system for flanging a metal part is provided to improve the final dimensions of the part to a desired shape. Residual stresses from flanging operations can distort a final shape of the metal part. This disclosure provides an initial flanging step in which metal gainers are formed into the metal during a first flanging step. The metal gainers provide an increased amount of metal at select regions. Then, during a next flanging step, the metal gainers are smoothened or removed during that flanging step while the metal is additionally bent. The metal gainers help combat the residual stresses and allow the flange to better take the desired shape.

The ring-style stripper provides a larger surface area for contacting the stock. The large compression spring is preloaded and when a load is applied, the stripper retracts and the spring pressure increases. When the dies separate, the stock ejector pushes the part off flat surfaces, separating surfaces sealed by adhesion, including but not limited to oil or lubricant adhesion.
