  • Patent number: 4531513
Abstract: A removable handle for a roller massager of the type that includes a series of roller rows connected into a massager unit through use of straps oriented along each side of the matrix. The straps interconnect the rollers' axles one with the other to establish the roller matrix. The removable handle is a one piece molded handle that carries a series of connector brackets hingedly mounted along each side. Each connector bracket is adapted to interconnect with a strap and an axle to prevent longitudinal, transverse and normal motion of the handle relative to the roller plane. These interconnections permit the handle to be connected with or disconnected from the roller massager as desired by the user.

  • Patent number: 4526163
Abstract: A massager for massaging the body is disclosed having a disk with a plurality of shafts around a central central shaft. Each of the shafts have a resilient member on it for engaging the body of a person. These shafts are driven so that the outside shafts all rotate in a first direction and the center shaft rotates in the opposite direction. They are driven so that they rotate first in one direction a part of a turn and then they rotate in the other direction a part of a turn. The drive may be a central gear fixed to the center shaft and a small gear fixed to each of the small shafts and making meshing engagement with the large gear so that when the large shaft is rotated in one direction the central member rotates with it and the other members all rotate in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4522197
Abstract: Web-like triangular sacs are disposed between the finger stalls of a glove-shaped body to fan the respective fingers by feeding compressed air into the sacs. A plurality of sacs are arranged on the palm portion of the body, each running from the relative stall toward and along an arm portion. When compressed air is fed into the latter-mentioned sacs, the hand and the carpal joint are extended. Charging or discharging of compressed air into or out of the sacs may be carried out simultaneously or selectively with a given cycle. By repetition of the cycle, rhythmical intermittent movement, such as fanning and extension, of the functionally disordered carpal joint, hand and fingers takes place passively for the remedy of flexion contraction and extension disturbance, and a primary factor which can induce active movement is produced.

  • Patent number: 4517981
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved device for supporting the human foot in a more anatomically neutral, more correct position while the foot is in a weight bearing position both in stance and/or while functioning throughout gait in walking, running, or skiing. The present invention is particularly suited to high arched as well as flat feet. The device supports the foot from the metatarsal head area of the foot to the heel. The device includes a wedge that starts low in the heel area and very gradually increases towards the forefoot area so that it is highest in the forefoot area under the second metatarsal head. The wedge drops off abruptly under the first metatarsal head to a level that forms a neutral plane or valgus (lateral) wedge or valgus relationship of a plane from the first metatarsal head to the fifth metatarsal head with the rearfoot. In biomechanical terms, the device is designed to provide a rearfoot varus wedge of from 2 to 7 degrees.

  • Patent number: 4515152
Abstract: A pair of boots each having an outer shell and an inner resilient liner are each contoured to fit at the juncture between a person's foot and leg. The shell and liner of each contoured boot have extended ends that are folded over each other, and secured in the folded position to the person's leg. A support member, attached to the front of the shell, in turn provides for inverted suspension of the person from an independent support member, and a loop attached to the front of the shell extends to contact the back of the person's leg to give torque free suspension to a person wearing the boots.

  • Patent number: 4513738
Abstract: The massage unit is comprised of a stationary frame serving as a carrier for a motor driven drum which are journaled freely rotatable massage rollers; the unit further includes a bench or bed which is slidable transversely to the axis of the drum and is releasably connectable to the frame. The bed can be adjusted in height and has individual, body supporting flat cushions which can be shifted into different positions so that the massaging action can take place in any relative position to the bed. A hot-air blower in the stationary frame directs a stream of hot air towards the patient near the massage drum action. The massage rollers are spirally corrugated, but have an uncorrugated center.

  • Patent number: 4498463
Abstract: A water pressure powered massage and spray apparatus includes a casing, a plurality of axially movable massage members projecting from a working surface of the casing to perform the massaging action, a water connection and a drive mechanism including a water turbine to drive the massage members. The massage members are individually held in the casing in such a way that they have a range of free axial movement, but cannot drop out. The water turbine has at least one eccentric projection extending toward the massage members for causing axial movement of the massage members. In their extreme outward position, the massage members substantially close the working surface of the casing, so that spray jets can pass out through spray jet guides provided in the casing, thereby automatically converting the apparatus between use as a massage and use as a spray.
