Patent number: 5729933Abstract: A unified cornice apparatus formed of metal or plastic, which is secured at one end by a roof nailer portion to the roof decking by conventional fasteners. A shingle mold portion extends from the roof nailer portion. The shingle mold portion has an outer face portion and a bottom face portion. A facia portion extends from the bottom face portion adjacent to the facia board. The facia portion extends beneath the facia board, to a bottom facia portion which extends in spaced relation beneath the facia board. An outer soffit portion extends upwardly from the bottom facia portion to a soffit portion which extends beneath the sub-facia to an inner soffit portion. The inner soffit portion extends downwardly from the inner soffit portion to an lower freeze portion. The lower freeze portion joins a bottom freeze portion, which is secured to an existing wall freeze portion. Patent number: 5598671Abstract: This invention relates to exterior building wall systems utilizing multiple wall panels forming horizontal and vertical wall joints. Each individual wall panel consists of an essentially flat exterior facing member and four perimeter members structurally connected to the facing member. The design of the perimeter members and the combination of differential pressure seals and pressure equalized seals enable the system to prevent water from infiltrating into the building. In addition, this invention is easily disassembled and saves much time and expense.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1995Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Inventor: Raymond M. L. Ting

Patent number: 5577352Abstract: A composite frame member that includes a longitudinally extending external member that defines a longitudinally extending internal cavity within which a longitudinally extending internal member is disposed. The internal member and external member, while being distinct components, are constructed and arranged to cooperate in a substantially synergistic fashion that seeks to provide a frame member having superior strength characteristics. Further, the internal member and the external member cooperate to define an accessible stapling channel that is capable of being readily stapled into. The external member includes walls that at least partially bound the internal cavity. The internal member is disposed within the internal cavity and defines the stapling channel, wherein the stapling channel receives a cover sheet and staples through an opening defined by the external member.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1995Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Inventor: Larry M. Patent number: 5560117Abstract: A spacer or gauge is provided for maintaining accurate spacing between adjacent wooden boards of a deck, patio, walkway or the like incident to the performance of a nailing operation. The spacer is formed from two members, namely, an elongated leg welded in transverse relationship to a support member. A lower flat surface of the support member rests upon and spans adjacent deck boards while a lower leg portion of the elongated leg has opposite substantially parallel space defining surfaces which are spaced a predetermined distance from each other. The space defining surfaces are contacted by opposite edges of the deck boards, and the support member has a pair of apertures which allows a person to view the deck board edges and ascertain that the same are in contact with the space defining surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1994Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Inventor: Brett Tallman

Patent number: 5560157Abstract: A building structure adapted allows for ventilation of vapors from within the structure so as to retard deterioration of the structure. The building structure has a roof extending over one or more vertical side walls. An attic space is enclosed between the roof and an internal ceiling. The roof is constructed on a plurality of parallel rafters. The rafters are supported by a top plate capping each vertical side wall. The roof has a roof sheathing member overlying the roof rafters. A fascia is secured to the outer ends of the roof rafters and at least one portion of the fascia is spaced from the outer ends of the rafters. An air permeable and resilient strip is interposed between the fascia and the outer ends of the rafters to provide for the flow of vapor therebetween and into the attic.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1994Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Inventor: Martin J.
