  • Patent number: 10120305
Abstract: An imaging device has a drive gear assembly which operatively engages with a backup roll gear of a fuser assembly when the fuser assembly is inserted into the imaging device. Such engagement causes the drive gear assembly to rotate, and in turn rotates a drive motor coupled to the drive gear assembly. The drive motor includes Hall Effect sensors associated with a sensor arrangement that senses rotation of the motor. During rotation of the drive motor, sensor signals are transmitted to a controller of the imaging device, the controller counting rising and falling signal edges of the received sensor signals. Based on the number of rising and falling signal edges, a message is sent to a user of the imaging device whether or not the installation of the fuser assembly was successful.

  • Patent number: 10114324
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a storage portion stores a target adhesion amount of toner to adhere to an image bearing member at each of gradation levels as a target gradation level and a setting value of a control parameter used for control on the image forming portion at the target gradation level. A first control processor makes an adhesion amount sensor measure an actual adhesion amount corresponding to the setting value and thereafter compares a resultant measured value and the target adhesion amount and corrects the setting value if needed in association with at least one of the target gradation levels as a subject. A second control processor makes the image forming portion output a calibration image used for correcting the target adhesion amount using a period when the first control processor performs processing if there arises a need to correct the target adhesion amount associated with the subject.

  • Patent number: 10108142
Abstract: A replaceable unit for an image forming device according to one example embodiment includes a housing having a reservoir for storing toner. The replaceable unit includes a rotatable drive coupler and a rotatable shaft that has a cross pin on an axial end of the shaft, generally orthogonal to the shaft. At least a portion of the drive coupler is exposed on an exterior of the housing and unobstructed to receive rotational force when the replaceable unit is installed in the image forming device. A pocket is formed in a first axial side of the drive coupler. The axial end of the shaft and the cross pin are removably positioned in the pocket such that upon rotating the drive coupler in an operative direction rotational force is transferred from surfaces of the drive coupler forming the pocket to the cross pin causing the shaft to rotate with the drive coupler.

  • Patent number: 10101269
Abstract: A method includes decomposing a training set to obtain a principal component matrix having a plurality of principal component vectors. The method also includes variably rejecting portions of a sample spectrum vector that do not correspond to a selected one of the plurality of principal component vectors by incrementally providing a coefficient indicative of the weighting of the selected principal component vector for selected sub-regions. A corrected spectrum vector can be obtained by excluding certain sub-regions of the sample spectrum vector and corresponding principal component vector, multiplying the sample spectrum vector with the principal component matrix for non-excluded sub-regions, providing a predicted interference vector, and subtracting the predicted interference vector from the sample spectrum vector.

  • Patent number: 10101304
Abstract: Disclosed is a calibration method and system for non-destructive testing and inspection (NDT/NDI). The method and system involve establishment of a reference database by conducting FMC acquisition on a first calibration block having standardly known indications with a first series of depths and under a laboratory standard calibration condition. Then phased-array operation is conducted on a second calibration block, which is substantially the same as the first block, having indications with a series of corresponding user measured depths and under a second calibration condition as close to the laboratory condition as possible. The calibration is then made with the gain compensation calculated based on the response signals from the indications of the second block, the first series of gain data from the reference database, and the user measured depths for the corresponding indications under the second calibration condition.

  • Patent number: 10095177
Abstract: A cleaning unit includes a cleaning member, an accommodating portion, and a transport member. The cleaning member removes a developer from a surface of an image carrier. The accommodating portion accommodates the removed developer. The transport member transports the developer removed by the cleaning member to the accommodating portion. The transport member includes a shaft member and first and second transport bodies. The shaft member extends in a direction intersecting a transport direction of the developer. The first transport body is rotatably supported by the shaft member. The second transport body is rotatably supported by the first transport body at a position spaced from the shaft member. The second transport body extends toward the cleaning member. When the shaft member rotates, a trajectory of an end portion, at a cleaning member side, of the second transport body is an ellipse elongated along the transport direction on the cleaning member.

  • Patent number: 10095150
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a charging member, a charging voltage source, an electrostatic image forming portion, a developing device, a developing voltage source, a transfer portion, a transfer voltage source, and a controller. During image formation, the toner remaining on the image bearing member after transfer is collected into the developing device while forming an image. In a cleaning operation performed during non-image formation, while rotating the image bearing member, the controller transfers the toner from the charging member onto the image bearing member, passes the toner through the developing portion in an urged state, reverses a charge polarity of the toner to a normal polarity at a charging portion, and then transfers the toner reversed in charge polarity from the image bearing member onto the developing member at the developing portion to collect the toner in the developing device.
