  • Patent number: 9783183
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine, a motor selectively coupled to the engine, a transmission selectively coupled to the motor, and a controller. The motor is able to operate as a motor (to provide torque to the transmission) and a generator (to charge a battery). In one mode, the controller can command the engine to both propel the vehicle and provide torque to the motor to charge the battery. The controller estimates the maximum available engine torque in the current gear and maintains the vehicle in the current gear of the transmission. And, the controller commands the motor to charge the battery by a magnitude based on the difference between driver demanded torque and an estimated maximum available engine torque in a current gear of the transmission. This allows the engine to operate at (or near) its maximum torque output to fulfill driver demands and charge the battery while inhibiting downshifting.

  • Patent number: 9783229
Abstract: A control system calculates inputs to a control target that has m inputs and n outputs (m=n, each of m and n is a natural number that is more than one), while designating a plurality of combinations of the inputs and the outputs. A feedback controller calculates, with respect to each designated combination, a control input to a non-interference controller based on a difference between a target value and a current value of the control quantity to make the current value follow the target value. The non-interference controller executes, with respect to each designated combination, a non-interference control to reduce influence due to mutual interference between n control quantities. This reduces the number of combinations of the inputs and the outputs, the combinations whose mutual interference needs considering; thereby, the non-interference control may be easily achieved.

  • Patent number: 9676385
Abstract: Disclosed herein are computer devices, systems, and methods for enabling persistent data connections with a vehicle and low-latency vehicle commands. A driver can use an app installed on a mobile device to send commands to a vehicle's DCM, which can execute such commands on one or more vehicle systems, such as remote ignition and door lock systems. Upon app initialization, a wakeup command can be sent to the DCM through one or more intermediary servers to establish a persistent data connection between a data center server and the DCM. Then, when the driver issues a command from the app, the command can be communicated between the data center server and the DCM directly over the persistent data connection, with lower latency. After a predetermined timeout period in which the driver has not used the mobile app, the persistent data connection can be terminated.

  • Patent number: 9669838
Abstract: Using sensors of a first and second sensor type first and second sensor data are detected and items of information describing identical objects and/or object attributes are allocated to one another in the first and second sensor data. The first and second sensor data are encumbered by first and second ambiguities. Values of the second encumbering ambiguities are at least as great as values of the first encumbering ambiguities. A comparison of the first and second encumbering ambiguities of items of information describing identical objects and/or object attributes takes place. In the case of values of substantially the same size, the items of information describing identical objects and/or object attributes are allocated to one another in the first and second sensor data. In the case of values which are not of substantially the same size the items of information describing identical objects and/or object attributes are confirmed or discarded.
