  • Patent number: 9622091
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computer system directed to an online and distributed optimization framework for wireless analytics. A radio network controller determines a ranking for each of a plurality of received objects using a plurality of similarity graphs. The radio network controller extracts a common structure by collaborative filtering data associated with a plurality of user devices and the plurality of received objects. The common structure is analyzed to infer usage patterns within a time slot. The radio network controller stores a subset of the ranked objects of the plurality of received objects in response to the analysis.

  • Patent number: 9615401
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for device configuration (e.g., feature segment loading and system selection). Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to operating a user equipment (UE) in a first radio access network (RAN) with a first set of modem features that supports the first RAN, detecting a second RAN not supported by the first set of modem features, and rebooting the modem software to load a second set of modem features that supports the detected RAN. For certain aspects, the first RAN may be a Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) network and the second RAN may be a Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) network or long term evolution network. This allows features to be loaded into memory (e.g., only) when they are required to support a detected RAN, rather than loading an entire image, thereby conserving DRAM and increasing efficiency.

  • Patent number: 9609469
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods for determining a location of a mobile device are presented. Often a mobile device requests assistance data from a location server. If the mobile device expects a significant delayed response in receiving the assistance data, the mobile device may determine a seed location or rough location estimate from a server. The mobile device may also request a map to display and/or a data structure for its estimator. The mobile device may preload the estimator with the rough location estimate and/or the data structure. After preloading, the estimator determines a location of the mobile device. Also, the mobile device may show the map to a user via a display.

  • Patent number: 9554311
Abstract: A method and corresponding system to help manage resources in a wireless communication system. When a first access network has allocated a resource for use in serving a UE and the UE has then transitioned from being served by the first access network to being served by a second access network, a determination may be made that (i) the UE has then moved into particular coverage of the second access network and (ii) the first access network does not have a coverage area that corresponds with that particular coverage area of the second access network. In response, the first access network may then release the resource that it had allocated for use in serving the UE. In a scenario where the first access is configured to normally release the resource upon expiration of a resource-release timer, the release in response to the determination may advantageously occur before the timer expires.

  • Patent number: 9544763
Abstract: One method by a network operations center node controls collection of information from electronic devices. A request message is received from a sensor, which requests collection of information from electronic devices within range of the sensor. One of a plurality of radio access networks is selected based on it likely being communicatively connected to electronic devices within range of the sensor. An inquiry message is sent to the radio access network for broadcast to the electronic devices, requesting information from the electronic devices. An authentication message is received from a responsive electronic device. An information collection disclosure response that identifies who is requesting collection of the information from the electronic device and/or how information collected from the electronic device will be used, is sent to the electronic device. Related methods by sensors and electronic devices, and related sensors, network operations center nodes, and electronic devices are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9473951
Abstract: A mobile communication apparatus is provided, which may have a receiver, and may ascertain whether a movement of the apparatus is below a prescribed limit and on that basis may prompt the receiver of the mobile communication apparatus to perform a signal reception quality measurement. A mobile communication apparatus is also provided, which may have a transmission/reception device, and may ascertain whether a movement of the apparatus is below a prescribed limit based on a set of radio cells in a mobile radio communication that is active, a radio cell that serves the mobile communication apparatus, or a set of adjacent radio cells that is configured for the mobile communication apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9408245
Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and methods for acquiring service using multiple channels. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method comprising successively configuring a first wireless communication channel and a second wireless communication channel of a single wireless apparatus to receive a plurality of signal frequencies of one or more radio communication protocols. The first wireless communication channel is configured to receive different signal frequencies of the plurality of signal frequencies than the second wireless communication channel. The first wireless communication channel and the second wireless communication channel process the plurality of signal frequencies in parallel to establish a service connection.

  • Patent number: 9271227
Abstract: A method for processing user equipment (UE) connection under a mixed mode and a femtocell system are provided. The method for processing UE connection is used in a femtocell for processing the connection of a UE. The method includes the following steps. A connection request is received from a low priority UE under a mixed mode. Whether the measurement results corresponding to the femtocell satisfy threshold settings is determined in response to the connection request, wherein the measurement results include a path loss corresponding to the femtocell. If the measurement results satisfy the threshold settings, then the low priority UE is allowed to be connected to the femtocell. In one embodiment, suitable resource allocation, such as the allocation of power and code resource, is provided after the low priority UE is connected to the femtocell under the mixed mode.

  • Patent number: 9247407
Abstract: After receiving a message that defines an initial target area for distribution of an alert, a wireless carrier network may identify a first set of one or more coverage areas that are fully encompassed within the initial target area and a second set of one or more coverage areas that are partially encompassed within the initial target area. For each partially-encompassed coverage area, the network may then define a respective target area that is less geometrically complex than the initial target area. In turn, the network may broadcast the alert (1) in each fully-encompassed coverage area in a manner that directs a recipient device to output the alert regardless of the device's location and (2) in each partially-encompassed coverage area in a manner that directs a recipient device to output the alert only if the device's location is encompassed within the respective target area for the coverage area.

Abstract: Intelligent technique is an effective method to perform the network resource management. A three layer cascade adaptive neural fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based intelligent controller is proposed for the mobile wireless network to optimize the maximum average throughput, minimum transmit power and interference for multimedia call services. The proposed intelligent controller is designed with a three layer cascade architecture, which mainly contains an ANFIS rate controller (ARC) in the first layer, an ANFIS power controller (APC) in the second layer and an ANFIS interference controller (AIC) in the third layer. The design aim of the proposed three layer cascade ANFIS cognitive engine is maximizing the average throughput of the mobile wireless network, while minimizing the transmit power and interference power.
