  • Patent number: 9101940
Abstract: In a method for separating magnetizable particles from a suspension, the suspension is passed through a cylinder-symmetrical separator wherein the substance streams are separated by at least one tubular separation screen. The separator separates the substance stream into a concentrate as well as a so-called tailing and the control of the separation rate of the concentrate and tailing is carried out solely by controlling the flow rate. To this end, at least one separation screen (11, 21) is displaceable in the separator (10, 20), so that a variable gap (15, 25) is formed.

  • Patent number: 8372248
Abstract: A water purification system having an oil and vapor separation subsystem for removing many heavy duty and toxic contaminants from the water. The subsystem removes volatile vapors from the feed water, heats the feed water, and by imparting a swirling vortex action to the heated water, the oils are separated from the water. The water separated from the oil is pumped by a high pressure pump through a helical coil that is heated to a high temperature by the burner. The high temperature, hot water is then fed to an expansion nozzle in an expansion chamber to flash the hot water into steam. The steam is passed through a condenser which converts the steam to purified water.

  • Patent number: 5853587
Abstract: A fluid filter has a housing fabricated from two portions made from a toxic resistant plastic, such as TEFLON, and includes a filter element sealingly supported therein in such a manner that contaminants or foreign material filtered thereby is captured in an area closed off by novel seals formed between the two housing portions. The seals may take the form of an accordion-type seal, or, male-female type engaging ends may be used. The seals allow the filter element to be removed and examined, if needed, and allows the housing portions to be easily and quickly assembled and disassembled for repair or examination.

  • Patent number: 5667681
Abstract: A vertical or horizontal centrifugal separator comprises a drive mechanism including a drive shaft. A flight assembly is attached to the drive shaft and is rotatably driven by it as is a screen assembly which includes a rotor that also is attached to the drive mechanism. The flight assembly generally has a frusto-conical central body with a plurality of spaced apart individual blades or flights aligned longitudinally on the exterior of the central body. The rotor is driven at a separate speed that the flight assembly. A perforated screen assembly is carried by the rotor and is positioned outwardly of the flight assembly. An inlet assembly is positioned above these other elements where material to be separated is fed into the separator through the inlet assembly. An improvement comprises a novel tip formed on each of the individual flights.

  • Patent number: 5401407
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously separating relatively coarse particles from a suspension of a mixture of particles in a liquid, wherein the suspension is caused to pass through a screening medium which is rotating in its own plane and wherein the screening medium extends over and across the upper end of a rotary drum having generally downwardly depending side walls and wherein the side walls diverge outwardly in a downward direction.

  • Patent number: 5149432
Abstract: A centrifuge for separating liquids, e.g., oil from water. The centrifuge basically comprises a housing having first and second cavities, and a liquid conveying wall disposed over a bowl arranged to be rotated about a central axis. The bowl includes an annular top wall having an annular separator plate including a central hub mounted below the top wall. The separator plate is spaced from the bowl to enable the second liquid to flow therebetween and into the space between it and the top wall. The hub has plural radial passageways in communication with the space between the separator plate and the top wall and also with the space between the top wall and the liquid conveying wall. The hub also has plural axial passageways communicating with the interior of the bowl and located at the interface of the two liquids formed when the bowl is rotated. Each axial passageways has an outlet in communication with the liquid conveying wall.
