  • Patent number: 5672950
Abstract: A power supply for a variable speed AC motor includes a waveform generator for generating a periodic pulsed waveform according to a desired motor speed, an adjustable source of DC potential, and an inverter coupled to the waveform generator and to the source of DC potential. The inverter provides an AC pulse train to the AC motor, the pulse train having waveform characteristics according to the pulsed waveform generated by the waveform generator to obtain the desired speed. The voltage amplitude of the pulse train provided to the motor is proportional to the DC potential whereby motor currents can be controlled at the desired motor speed by varying the DC potential.

  • Patent number: 5663627
Abstract: A control apparatus for controlling a motor of an air conditioner includes a converter, having switching for improving an input power factor, for converting an AC power to a DC power and an inverter for converting the DC power supplied from the converter to the AC power and supplying to a compressor. The output DC voltage of the converter is detected by a DC voltage detecting circuit. An input alternating current is detected by a current detecting circuit. A microcomputer for controlling the inverter calculates a current command from data stored on the basis of the detected voltage. The detected current is compared with the current command, an ON percentage of a PWM signal to control the switching is obtained, and the PWM signal is generated.

  • Patent number: 5652495
Abstract: A controller for a permanent magnet synchronous motor which includes a D-axis current command section and a Q-axis current command section. The D-axis current command section increases the command value of the D-axis current so as to set a judged value to be zero by leading the current phase when the judged value is positive. In addition, the D-axis current command section decreases the command value of the D-axis current when the judged value is negative. Moreover, the D-axis current command section holds the command value of the D-axis current at a predetermined minimum value when the decreasing command value of the D-axis current becomes smaller than the predetermined minimum value. The Q-axis current command section is responsible for supplying a command value of the Q-axis current.

  • Patent number: 5650700
Abstract: An electric vehicle torque controller has a torque calculating unit and an actual torque detecting unit. The calculated torque is compared with the actual torque to generate a torque compensation value, which is converted to a torque current signal. The torque current signal is used to generate a slip frequency, which is added to an output of an angular speed detector and used to set a secondary magnetic flux value. A secondary magnetic flux signal is generated according to the secondary magnetic flux value and the torque current signal. A secondary magnetic flux estimating unit generates an estimated secondary magnetic flux value, which is used to determine the exciting current. Primary motor current is controlled in response to the exciting current, the torque current, motor speed and slip value.

  • Patent number: 5648627
Abstract: A performance control apparatus is provided to control a manner of performance played by an electronic musical apparatus. Herein, sensors are provided to sense a swing motion of a baton which is swung by a human operator in response to time of music to be played (e.g., triple time). Then, a peak is detected from outputs of the sensors in accordance with a peak detection process using a fuzzy inference process. A kind of the swing motion is discriminated by effecting another fuzzy inference process on a result of the peak detection process. Concretely, the kind of the swing motion is discriminated as one of predetermined motions which are determined specifically with respect to time of the music. Performance control information is created based on the discriminated kind of the swing motion. Thus, a tempo and/or dynamics of performance is controlled in response to the performance control information.

  • Patent number: 5644202
Abstract: A regenerative braking control system consumes energy generated in a period corresponding to an angle .theta..sub.1 which starts in a half of a period of an AC voltage produced in a drive motor during the braking of the drive motor. The regenerative braking control system also consumes energy generated in a period corresponding to an angle .theta..sub.2 that ends at the end of a half of a period of the AC voltage. The regenerative rate of braking control system utilizes a current induced in the driving coils of the drive motor at the end of the period corresponding to the angle .theta..sub.1 to recharge a battery. By utilizing two periods to carry out the regenerative braking process, the recharging energy and the braking force can be controlled individually. Moreover, a controller monitors the electric control system to determine whether a malfunction is present. If a malfunction is detected, an electrical brake electrically brakes the drive motor.
