Patent number: 4256236Abstract: A collapsible container for milk cartons has a plate-like base member with first and second spaced parallel edges and third and fourth spaced parallel edges perpendicular to the first and second edges. First and second upper ledges extends upward perpendicularly from the base member along the first and second edges thereof. Third and fourth upper ledges extend upward perpendicularly from the base member along the third and fourth edges thereof. The third and fourth upper ledges are perpendicular to the first and second upper ledges. A first side panel is pivotally mounted in the third and fourth upper ledges next-adjacent the first upper ledge in a manner whereby the first upper ledge prevents the first side panel from falling outward. A second side panel is pivotally mounted in the third and fourth upper ledges next-adjacent the second upper ledge in a manner whereby the second upper ledge prevents the second side panel from falling outward.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1979Date of Patent: March 17, 1981Inventor: Samuel Haase

Patent number: 4236664Abstract: The invention relates to a stackable transport container, particularly for fruits, vegetables or dairy products, in which a one-piece blank has a quadrangular bottom and four walls rising upwardly and slanting slightly outwardly therefrom, which walls delimit an upwardly widening container filling space. In the four corners thereof there are arranged upright stacking supports formed by parts of the blank and serving for stiffening the container. The upper edges of the stacking supports are arranged below the upper edges of the adjacent container side wall sections so that during the stacking of two nested containers, the bottom of the upper container rests on the stacking supports of the lower container, the upper edges of the container side walls of the lower container securing the upper container against lateral displacement.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1979Date of Patent: December 2, 1980Inventor: Ludwig Hartelmuller

Patent number: 4066205Abstract: In a bin box formed of corrugated board and shaped having upper, bottom and a pair of side walls, being folded into the tubular form, with a series of flaps provided at the back end to provide closure thereat, and a pivotal panel foldably connected to the bottom wall at the opposite or front end of the box, with said panel having lateral flaps foldably connected to either side, with said flaps being arranged interiorly of the box and adjacent its side walls, with protruding portions provided upon the upper end of each lateral flap so as to limit the extent of the outward pivotal disposition of the pivotal panel. Another flap connects with the upper wall at this front of the box, with said flap normally providing for full closure across this end of the box, but also includes a line of separation so that a portion of said flap can be removed, leaving a marginal flap that functions as a display panel for the box when used for marketing of granular or bulk materials.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1976Date of Patent: January 3, 1978Assignee: Alton Box Board CompanyInventor: Harold J. Patent number: 3967774Abstract: In a carton employing a turned-under lip along at least a portion of its periphery, an easily openable, non-resealable tab is provided for securing the carton lid to the body of a carton. The tab provides an easy open feature, secures the lid to the body of the carton, provides visual assurance that the carton has not been pilfered and eliminates the cost, nuisance and disposal problems normally associated with prior art overwrap materials and tear-out zippers. The tab requires a very low opening force which is highly reproducible. In addition, the tab is unaffected by minor carton damage. The tab is formed as an integral portion of the carton lid, is easily produced on standard packaging equipment, and, in a particularly preferred embodiment, requires no additional packaging material other than that required to form the carton lid.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1975Date of Patent: July 6, 1976Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventor: William Edward Querner
