  • Patent number: RE46350
Abstract: A method for sample examination in a dual-beam FIB calculates a first angle as a function of second, third and fourth angles defined by the geometry of the FIB and the tilt of the specimen stage. A fifth angle is calculated as a function of the stated angles, where the fifth angle is the angle between the long axis of an excised sample and the projection of the axis of the probe shaft onto the X-Y plane. The specimen stage is rotated by the calculated fifth angle, followed by attachment to the probe tip and lift-out. The sample may then be positioned perpendicular to the axis of the FIB electron beam for STEM analysis by rotation of the probe shaft through the first angle.

  • Patent number: RE46488
Abstract: In one aspect, a method of transferring data over a plurality of communication lines is described. A first command is sent from a master device coupled with the communication lines to a first destination slave device coupled with the communication lines instructing the first destination slave device to listen to and write data from the communication lines starting at a first time. A second command is sent from the master device to a second source slave device coupled with the communication lines instructing the second source slave device to read and output first data onto the communication lines starting at or after the first time. In this way, the first data output from the second source slave device beginning at the first time is stored by the first destination slave device beginning at the first time without requiring first transferring the data to the master device or any other device.

  • Patent number: RE46497
Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a plurality of data lines each having a plurality of straight line portions and a plurality of curved portions connected to a plurality of the straight line portions; a plurality of gate lines intersecting the data lines; thin film transistors connected to the data lines and the gate lines; and pixel electrodes connected to the thin film transistors. Accordingly, even in a case where driver inversion becomes column inversion, apparent inversion can become dot inversion. As a result, it is possible to eliminate transverse line flicker and to increase a charging rate of pixels. In addition, uniformity of the pixels can be maintained, so that the inversion driving schemes can be applied to a PVA mode. As a result, it is possible to obtain a wide viewing angle and to improve side or lateral visibility.

  • Patent number: RE46564
Abstract: An optical mount is used for mounting an optical element, such as a beam splitter or a mirror, to a housing. The optical mount includes a pair of optical element retainer clamps that secure a first side of the optical element at respective first securement points on one of the major surfaces of the optical element, and also engage a first edge. A whiffletree retainer clamp secures a second side of the optical element at a second securement point on the one of its major surfaces. The whiffletree retainer clamp couples a whiffletree retainer to the housing, with the whiffletree retainer engaging a second edge along the second side of the device. The whiffletree retainer is positionally adjustable, for example able to pivot. Pivot pads may be used in at least some of the engagements to secure the optical element. • Patent number: RE47069
Abstract: An optical fiber cable assembly comprising an optical fiber slidably enclosed within a hollow tubing, both the fiber and the tubing having corresponding first and second ends. The cable is terminated with the first and second ends of the tubing and the fiber constrained with respect to each other such that fiber and the tubing are approximately the same length when the cable is at a first temperature. The tubing is made of a material which contracts more than the optical fiber when the cable is exposed to temperatures below the first temperature, such that the fiber is longer than the tubing and excess fiber length is formed. An intermediate portion of the tubing permits the excess fiber length to accumulate without bending in a radius smaller than a minimum bend radius.
