Abstract: Copper powder has a coating made of copper phosphate at the outer surface thereof. The coating is formed by chemically reacting the outer surface of the copper powder and covers the entire surface of the copper powder uniformly, thereby obtaining excellent anti-oxidizing properties. It is preferable to set the copper phosphate ratio in term of phosphorus with respect to the total weight of the copper powder within the range of about 0.05 to 0.5 wt %.
Abstract: Flexible graphite sheet is made by compressing a mixture of fine particle of intercalated, exfoliated, expanded natural graphite with fine particles of intercalated, unexpanded, expandable particles of natural graphite admixed with small amounts of a phosphorous bearing compound, the unexpanded particles being more finely sized than the expanded particles. The resulting sheet of flexible graphite exhibits improved fire retardant and sealability properties and additionally resistance to oxidation and corrosion.

Abstract: A multilayer printed circuit board is obtained by impregnating a base material with a thermosetting resin in to form a prepreg; applying an undercoating agent comprising a terminal-bifunctional linear epoxy resin having an average epoxy equivalent of 450 to 6,000, together with at least one of 2-undecylimidazole, 1-cyanoethy1-2-undecylimidazole or 2,4-diamino-6{2'-undecyl-imidazole(1')}ethyl-s-triazine, or the aforementioned components together with an aromatic polyamine, to at least one circuit side of an interlayer circuit board on at least one side of which a circuit has been formed; and laying the prepreg on at least one side of the undercoating agent-applied interlayer circuit board and subjecting them to laminating.
Abstract: The pin for electronic assemblies according to the present invention consists of a core alloy with 0.2 to 1.5 wt. % Ag, the remainder copper, whereby at least the contact surface of the pin is provided with one or several highly conductive and/or easily solderable coatings. With this not only a higher electric conductivity of the contact is obtained but also a comparatively high strength with simple production and good workability, which makes it possible to miniaturize the pins.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacturing an article of a high-density carbon. To produce an un-fired compact, binderless, self-sintering, fine-grained carbon powder, particularly carbon mesophases, with a powder density of more than 1 g/cm.sup.3, particularly more than 1.4 m/cm.sup.3, and an average grain size of between 5 and 20 .mu.m, is precompacted at a low pressure and is pressed in a mold to at a pressure of between 50 and 150 MPa, particularly at approximately 100 MPa. After pressing, the contact pressure is slowly lowered. Then, the un-fired compact is carbonized in a temperature gradient of maximally 20 K/min. The temperature is held constant at a holding temperature of between 500 and 700.degree. C. for a defined holding time and is subsequently raised to a maximal temperature of between 800 and 1,200.degree. C., particularly approximately 1,000.degree. C. Finally, the carbonized compact is graphitized at an end temperature of between 2,500-3,000.degree. C.

Abstract: The invention provides molded, extruded or formed phosphorescent plastic articles having laser marked indicia and methods for preparing the articles. The indicia may be seen as a contrast against a phosphorescent background or, alternatively, the indicia may themselves be phosphorescent. An article of the invention has a composition comprising about 50% to about 99% by weight of a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin, about 1% to about 50% by weight of a phosphorescent phosphor pigment and about 0.001% to about 1% by weight of a laser energy absorbing additive. Resin compositions which themselves are laser energy absorbing do not require the additive; however, the addition of small quantities of the laser energy additive enhances the quality and contrast of the laser mark.
Abstract: A message board comprising a bulletin board fixedly mounted on a backing of heavy cardboard or other substrate, and an optional dry-erase laminate fixedly mounted onto the bulletin board. A frame is fixedly secured to the edges of the bulletin board and backing. The frame is provided with a front channel and a rear channel, each adapted to receive and firmly retain a portion of a generally "C"-shaped grip. The grip may be integrally formed with various accessories desired to be attached to the frame of the message board or other similarly shaped fixed member.

Abstract: The invention relates to a coating comprising a photochromic material, its production and its use. The photochromic material of the coating has an optically reversible photochromic effect, wherein the switching threshold is disposed outside of or in the boundary region of the visible range of the spectrum. According to the invention, the photochromic material is coated with an influencing material, so that the switching threshold of the coated photochromic material is shifted towards wavelengths longer than the switching threshold of the uncoated photochromic material.

Abstract: A multilayer material is described, whose overlay exhibits improved hardness and improved wear-resistance. The multilayer material includes an overlay, which contains 8-18.5 wt. % tin and 2-16 wt. % copper, the balance being lead, wherein the tin is present as a finely crystalline deposit completely homogeneously distributed in the lead. A process for producing sliding elements in which the overlay of lead-tin-copper is applied to the prefabricated semi-finished product by electroplating provides that a ternary, fluoroborate-free electroplating bath is used without brighteners and with the addition of fatty acid polyglycol ester and a grain refining agent including a carboxylic acid.

Abstract: A polyurethane elastomer actuator comprising a polyurethane elastomer 1 capable of deforming due to the orientation by an electric field, wherein the shrinkage displacement occurring at the time of the application of an electric field is transformed into other displacement. This polyurethane elastomer actuator does not require electrolyte and high voltage. Since it is not accompanied by chemical reactions and heat generation, its durability hardly deteriorates. This actuator deforms largely during driving.
Abstract: The present invention provides a metal bonded abrasive tool wherein the tool has improved life and mechanical properties. The invention further includes the bond composition which allows for improved life and mechanical properties, particularly in diamond blade dressing tools.

Abstract: A white decorative member comprising: a substrate; a primary plate layer having a thickness of at least 1 .mu.m and covering the substrate, which is composed of Cu (alloy); an Sn--Cu--Pd alloy plate layer having a thickness of at least 0.2 .mu.m and covering the primary plate layer, which comprises 10 to 20% by weight of Sn, 10 to 80% by weight of Cu and 10 to 50% by weight of Pd as essential components; and a finishing plate layer having a thickness of 0.2 to 5 .mu.m, which is composed of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Pd, Rh and Pt. The decorative member of the present invention does not contain any Ni component, so that, when worn, it does not induce Ni allergy. Moreover, the decorative member which may have white, gold, black or multicolor being a combination of the above colors can be produced at lowered cost.
Abstract: A method of forming a camouflage pattern, a method of manufacturing a camouflage material in accordance with the pattern, and a camouflage material so manufactured. The method is performed by the taking of a series of photographs in a setting in the environment in which the camouflage configuration is intended to be used. One typical environment might include oak, poplar and birch trees. The individual images of the photographs are then entered graphically into a computer. The computer images are then overlain, one upon another, to form a composite print. Using the computer, the colors in the composite print are separated into a plurality of color prints portraying the predominant colors in the composite print. The colors are identified, and a corresponding plurality of layer screens based upon the individual color prints are made. The layer screens are then employed to screen the identified colors onto a sheet of material.

Abstract: An insulating paste comprises a glass component composed of SiO.sub.2, B.sub.2 O.sub.3 and K.sub.2 O as xSiO.sub.2 -yB.sub.2 O.sub.3 -zK.sub.2 O, where x, y and z (% by weight) fall within the area surrounded by points A (x=65, y=35, z=0), B (x=65, y=20, z=15), C (x=85, y=0, z=15) and D (x=85, y=15, z=0), and an organic vehicle. The insulating layer made of the paste has a low dielectric constant and excellent insulating properties.
Abstract: Upper and lower shell members of aluminum-plated steel panels have respective flanges overlapping each other and welded to each other by a laser beam, thereby forming a fuel tank. One of the flanges has a stepped region spaced from the other of the flanges, thereby defining a gap between the stepped region and the other flange. The laser beam is applied to the flanges closely to the gap for discharging unwanted components such as aluminum from a welded area of the flanges into the gap. Therefore, the amount of aluminum contained in the welded area is reduced to increase the bonding strength of the welded area.
Abstract: A steel sheet for a heat-shrink band, which is to be thermally expanded and fitted over the outer periphery of the panel portion of a cathode ray tube, which has at least a 20% elongation at an ambient temperature and at least a 40 kg/mm.sup.2 stress of yielding point after the heating and cooling, in particular one comprised by a dual phase cold rolled steel sheet comprising a ferrite phase and a martensite phase or a cold rolled steel sheet containing a retained austenite.
Abstract: A laminate for forming carton blanks wherein a desired aesthetic holographic appearance is sandwiched between a reversed printed transparent plastic film and a relatively rigid paperboard material. In another embodiment, printed matter and a clear lacquer are imposed on spaced portions of holographic etchings on a transparent film to eliminate the holographic etchings in those areas leaving a remaining portion of the holographic etchings. A metallized substrate covers the printed matter, the clear lacquer and the remaining holographic etchings which can then be laminated to a relatively rigid paperboard.
Abstract: A multi-layered signage-lettering material containing a release or casting sheet layer with a pigmented display layer deposited on one side of the release sheet is described. The pigmented display layer is a coalesced film of at least one water-borne polymer of for example water-borne polyurethanes, water-borne acrylics, and mixtures thereof. Optionally, the coalesced film may be applied in multiple coats. The multi-layered material also includes an adhesive layer covering the surface of the pigmented display layer opposite the release sheet, and optionally, a removable protective layer covering the surface of the adhesive layer opposite the pigmented display layer. A method of fabricating the multi-layered signage-lettering material described above also is described. The method includes first depositing the pigmented display layer on the release or casting sheet.
