  • Patent number: 3954268
Abstract: An automobile drag racing game comprising a playing board having two parallel lanes, each of which is designed to accommodate a playing piece in the form of a miniature drag racing car, so as to conduct a drag race between the two cars under conditions simulating those of an actual race. The playing board is divided into four transverse zones corresponding with the portions of a drag race run in first, second, third and fourth gears. Movement of the cars is controlled by dice, or in another embodiment by a number wheel actuated by a gear shift lever which can be shifted into first through fourth gears. The numbers thus randomly selected are utilized to determine the number of feet which the car may advance in any given gear by reference to a conversion chart with which each player is provided. Each conversion chart is calculated to produce racing performance characteristics of a well known type of car and driver.

  • Patent number: 3948527
Abstract: A board game wherein two to four participants compete in moving a plurality of simulated space rockets to the center of the moon from a launch base and then the players substitute a simulated capsule for movement back to earth. Simulated recovery ships are then utilized for movement to the landing area to transport the capsules back to the launch base. Structure is provided for each participant to delay the progress of his or her opponent's vehicles which are in the form of simulated space rockets and capsules.

  • Patent number: 3947039
Abstract: A football game apparatus comprising a game board having a model football field thereon and a playing piece movable therealong, an offensive play board having offensive player selected columns corresponding to offensive plays and chance selected rows intersecting with the columns to define offensive blocks, each containing yardage values, and a defensive play board having defensive player selected columns corresponding to defensive plays and chance selected rows intersecting with the columns to define defensive blocks, each containing yardage values, wherein the values obtained in the selected offensive and defensive blocks are compared to determine the net yardage of each play and the corresponding movement of the playing piece. Substitute offensive and defensive columns are provided to vary the offensive and defensive yardage values. Certain offensive and defensive blocks contain turn-over indicia which, when matched, result in the turn-over of possession of the playing piece between players.

  • Patent number: 3944229
Abstract: A board golf game shows a typical golf course including the shape and layout of the holes with both natural and artificial hazards so as to exactly duplicate conditions encountered on the golf course. Playing pieces are moved to one of differently positioned, non-aligned, and marked yardage points which give the exact lie of the ball.Dice, simulating clubs, and having different yardage values representing frequency and range of a given golf club, are selected and cast to obtain the yardage made by the stroke. This yardage is added to the previous yardage point value to determine total yardage and the corresponding yardage point to which the playing piece is to be moved.Yardage points are also located at typical ball locations on the course, including hazards such as water and traps, to closely duplicate playing conditions. Instructions on the board and two sets of trap cards give a variety of possible recovery shots which can be expected.

  • Patent number: 3941387
Abstract: The game includes a replica of a race course which is divided into a sequence of stations and the players take turns to advance distinctively colored markers or playing pieces along the race course. To determine the number of stations through which a player in his turn advances his marker, the player manually imparts impetus to a metal ball which causes the ball to traverse a straight track that has resilient bumpers at its two opposite ends. The ball recoils from at least one of the bumpers and comes to rest at one of a plurality of sections of the track which indicate the number of stations the player is to advance his marker on the course.

  • Patent number: 3938808
Abstract: A game, including gameboard and pieces, wherein the board comprises a number of similar discrete areas each capable of receiving a piece during a move by one of several participating players, the areas and pieces being symetrically disposed as viewed by the players at the start of the game. The pieces include for each player uniquely colored pawns and another similarly-colored larger piece referred to herein as a knight, the latter occupying multiple contiguous areas at the same time. The players have sequential "moves", each complete move of a player requiring that he first move his knight to a location including at least one newly occupied area and that he thereafter move one of his pawns to a different new area. These pieces can be moved anywhere on the board so long as the areas to which they move are not already occupied. The game ends for a losing player when he is no longer able to move his knight so as to occupy at least one new area.

  • Patent number: 3937471
Abstract: Two substantially identical standard chessboards are provided in parallel alignment such that the squares on one board are vertically aligned with the squares on the other board. The two boards, conveniently termed upper and lower boards, are sufficiently spaced to permit the placement of chessmen on the lower board. Two sets of conventional chessmen are also provided, along with two sets of additional chessmen, the conventional chessmen and the additional chessmen, under the preferred rules of the game, being initially positioned on opposing boards, and then, in the progress of the game, moving between and on both boards in a predetermined manner to capture chessmen of the opposing player. The upper board is transparent, permitting easy visual inspection of the location of the chessmen on the lower board so that the game may be conveniently played.
