  • Patent number: 6357158
Abstract: A gunsight reticle having a system of critically dimensioned and positioned target spanning indicia improves the aiming of a rifle. The indicia include orthogonally intersecting center vertical and center horizontal hairlines, and four horizontal range-marker lines of sequentially incremental length disposed below the horizontal hairline in bisected relationship with the center vertical hairline. The effectiveness of the gunsight is enhanced by a shooter's training program, interactive with the gunsight, which emphasizes the thought processes involving the planning, aiming and execution of a shot.

  • Patent number: 6354034
Abstract: A quick-detachable sling swivel comprises a body and a shift/swing gate mounted on the body through an elongated plunger. The gate, through manipulation of the plunger, is adjustable between open and closed positions relative to the body to enable mounting, demounting and securing of the swivel relative to an external structure. The swivel has a locking mechanism for restricting movement of the plunger to prevent the gate from opening. The body and the loop are integrally formed of metal. The loop has a pair of opposed substantially parallel side members. The gate may include a wedge protruding toward the tang, the wedge having an upper surface that, in the closed position, opposes a flat lower surface of the body. The swivel is capable of withstanding at least 500 lbs. of pull force.

  • Patent number: 6351907
Abstract: A focus adjustment mechanism for a telescopic rifle sight includes a rotatable cam hub including a drive face and a spiral cam track formed in the drive face around an axis of rotation. An actuator slide of the adjustment mechanism is slidably mounted to a housing of the telescopic rifle sight for movement along a longitudinal axis of the housing. The actuator slide includes a cam follower that is operably engaged in the spiral cam track so that the actuator slide moves generally along the longitudinal axis in response to rotation of the cam hub to changing a setting of the adjustment mechanism. The actuator slide is operatively connected to a movable optical element positioned within the housing of the telescopic rifle sight to drive the optical element in response to rotation of the cam hub. The rate of linear movement of the optical element relative to the rate of rotation of the cam hub is controlled by the shape and arcuate angle of the spiral cam track.

  • Patent number: 6314671
Abstract: The invention concerns a fire arm equipped with an enabling system which comprises a transmitter/receiver (6) of ultrasonic waves mounted on the fire arm, a unit (5) to be carried by the shooter, containing means (13) for sending back a signal transmitted to the latter by said transmitter/receiver (6) and a monitoring device (9) monitoring the signal received by the above-mentioned receiving part, controlling a device (10) which can prevent any firing. The enabling system contains a timer (7) which can measure the length of time between the transmission of a signal by the transmitter/receiver (6) and its reception by the latter, and a device (8) to calculate the distance covered by said signal, whereby the monitoring device (9) only makes it possible to fire when it recognizes the signal and when on top of that the above-mentioned distance is inferior to a certain limit.

  • Patent number: 6302009
Abstract: A noise and recoil suppressor that is intended to be mounted within the terminal portion of a firearm barrel. The suppressor is a unitary structure having a cylindrical body and a plurality of chambers extending transversely therethrough and spaced-apart in the longitudinal direction of the device. The chambers are configured so as to restrain and slow the passage of the exhausting gases resulting from a bullet that has discharged and passing therethrough so as to suppress both the resulting noise and recoil from the discharging firearm. The suppressor is provided with external threads adjacent its outer end, and a firearm barrel into which the device is to be slidably inserted is suitably drilled-out and provided with internal threads for threadable securement of the device within the end of a firearm barrel. A second and shorter embodiment of the suppressor is disclosed that primarily functions as a recoil suppressor.

  • Patent number: 6279259
Abstract: The invention comprises a rifle scope having an adjustment sighting mechanism, the mechanism itself, and methods of making and using the rifle scope and adjustment mechanism. The rifle scope includes an inner and an outer tube, the outer tube mounted on the rifle and the inner tube being sealed within the outer tube. The inner tube is fixed in a ball-type joint at one end, with the other end free and having positioned therein an erector lens or a reticle. An adjustment mechanism adjusts the sight of the rifle scope by displacing the second end of the inner tube. The adjustment mechanism includes a threaded adjustment plunger that is rotationally fixed with respect to the body of the scope. The adjustment plunger threads to a rotating member having a threaded portion. As the rotating member rotates, the adjustment plunger, being prevented from rotating, moves in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotating member.

  • Patent number: 6276088
Abstract: Apparatus for firing projectiles at targets and for illuminating such targets combine a projectile-firing weapon and a target illuminator. A track-and-slide combination includes a slide on the target illuminator and a track on the weapon for that slide, and a releasable slide-in-track stop in such track-and-slide combination. In the case of a firearm that has a trigger actuated by a bent trigger finger of a shooter for the firing thereof, a push-button or transverse slide switch for the target illuminator may be mounted within reach of a pad of such trigger finger prior to actuation of the trigger. For example, the shooter may draw the firearm with his or her trigger finger then outstretched for actuation of the target illuminator switch, and may then bend such trigger finger for firing of the weapon by actuation of the trigger. Such and other appliances may have a battery compartment, and a contact plate interconnecting batteries in such compartment.
