  • Patent number: 11792371
Abstract: A projector having a curved field lens and a displaced light modulating display. The system includes at least one light source configured to generate colored light beams, and a prism routing the light beams to the display. The curved field lens is coupled to a face of the prism, and the prism and curved field lens together decenter the light beam from the prism face and uniformly illuminate the display. A center of the display is displaced from the projection lens optical axis. The decentered light beam and the displaced display together generate a favorable shifted boresight of the created image. Dimensions of components of the projector are a function of a curvature of the curved field lens. The greater the curvature of the curved field lens, the smaller the dimensions of the components and the overall projector. The projector may be used in eyewear.

  • Patent number: 11543665
Abstract: Techniques for updating a position of overlaid image content using IMU data to reflect subsequent changes in camera positions to minimize latency effects are disclosed. A “system camera” refers to an integrated camera that is a part of an HMD. An “external camera” is a camera that is separated from the HMD. The system camera and the external camera generate images. These images are overlaid on one another and aligned to form an overlaid image. Content from the external camera image is surrounded by a bounding element in the overlaid image. IMU data associated with both the system camera and the external camera is obtained. Based on that IMU data, an amount of movement that the system camera and/or the external camera have moved since the images were originally generated is determined. Based on that movement, the bounding element is shifted to a new position in the overlaid image.

  • Patent number: 7375747
Abstract: In an CCD image sensor, when an image of a partial area is used, a frame rate is enhanced. Horizontal transfer of signal charges of an i-th line read out to a horizontal transfer portion is stopped at the time point when all or a part of a tail portion 74 subsequent to an extraction target portion 72. Under this state, the signal charges of an (i+1)-th line are transferred to the horizontal transfer portion. Thereafter, the horizontal transfer is started. Through this operation, unnecessary signal charges of the tail portion 74 of the i-th line and unnecessary signal charges of a head portion 82 of an (i+1)-th line are combined. By partially overlapping adjacent lines with each other, the cycle number of horizontal transfer clocks required for the horizontal transfer per line can be reduced as compared with a normal operation, thereby enhancing a frame rate.

  • Patent number: 5654743
Abstract: In a picture display arrangement, for example, a personal computer and a monitor coupled thereto, the PC generates control signals for adjusting monitor settings (brightness, contrast, picture position, picture dimensions). The control signals are transmitted to the monitor by modulating the synchronizing signal (preferably by pulse-width modulation). The monitor includes a demodulator for deriving the control signals. This enables manual controls on the monitor to be dispensed with. For this, the interface between PC and monitor is not modified. Pulse-width modulation of the synchronizing signals is possible by means of a utility program loaded into the PC.

  • Patent number: 5646639
Abstract: A display producing a display image in a vehicle width mark form and an optical path changing device directing the display image to a windshield are mounted on a base. The base is driven by an arc drive portion along an arcuate path with an arc center which is an intersection of a first imaginary sight line and a second imaginary sight line. The imaginary sight lines are reflections of a first and second actual sight lines in which a driver looks at the image position. Since the arc center conjugates the image position, when the display and the optical path changing device move along the arcuate path, the display image projecting on the windshield changes, and therefore, the image does not move up and down from the ground. Further, when a distance between the display and the optical path changing device changes, since the base moves along the arcuate path, the display distance of the image changes and the image moves along the surface of the ground.

  • Patent number: 5646650
Abstract: An electronic paintbrush and electronic palette which allow a user to generate images on a CRT screen in a manner which imitates traditional painting with paints on a canvas. The electronic brush has fiber optic bristles which channel light from a CRT screen to optical detectors. A microprocessor in the brush utilizes pulses generated by the incidence of the raster scan on photodiodes to determine the position of the brush, the pressure of the brush against the CRT screen, and its angular orientation about the longitudinal axis of the brush. The microprocessor utilizes color information generated by a CCD array to determine the area of contact of the brush with color swatches on the palette, and the angle between the longitudinal axis of the brush and the normal vector to the CRT screen. In an alternate embodiment the palette is also displayed on the CRT screen.
