  • Patent number: 8619280
Abstract: An information processing apparatus capable of reducing power consumption of a printing apparatus efficiently according to a processing situation. An accumulation unit accumulates print jobs that should be transmitted to the printing apparatus. An acquisition unit acquires an operation history and a power consumption history of the printing apparatus. A setting unit sets a threshold value for determining a timing of transmitting the print jobs accumulated in the accumulation unit in series to the printing apparatus based on the operation history and the power consumption history acquired. A determination unit determines the timing of transmitting the print jobs based on the threshold value. A transmission unit transmits the print jobs accumulated in the accumulation unit in series to the printing apparatus at the timing determined.

  • Patent number: 8599424
Abstract: Printer cartridge microchips that can be used in conjunction with several different types of printer cartridges and/or printer models or families are described. Several printer cartridge microchips are provided that respond to data or information requests and/or commands from the printer (e.g., the printer processor). If the correct data or information is stored on the microchip, the printer can then function with that particular cartridge. In order to optimize the memory requirements of the microchip, at least one separate read-only memory subunit and at least one writable memory subunit is provided in the memory element. Each of the read-only memory subunits can correspond to a particular printer model or family type. In this manner, several different printer model or family types can function with the use of a single microchip for the printer cartridge.

  • Patent number: 8576416
Abstract: An image processing apparatus, connectable with plural image processing apparatuses via a network, which performs image processing. UI setting data is received from an another image processing apparatus, and it is determined whether or not a function included in the received UI setting data can be executed by the apparatus itself. If it is determined that the function cannot be executed by the image processing apparatus, a first image processing apparatus which can execute the function is retrieved on the network. Then setting is changed such that the function is substitutionally executed by the first image processing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8564825
Abstract: In a case of deleting a two-dimensional code for personal information protection, job control information within line two-dimensional code is deleted together, leading to being incapable of obtaining tracking information or performing job control. A control unit deletes tracking information within the extracted additional information, that is, in a case where the tracking information includes first tracking information and second tracking information, deletes the second tracking information. The control unit changes the job control information within the extracted additional information to job prohibition. An encode unit encodes the additional information to generate a two-dimensional code. When the control unit detects that a memory receives the two-dimensional code including the updated additional information and a document image, in a memory the two-dimensional code and the document image are combined to generate a document image to which the two-dimensional code is added.

  • Patent number: 8553274
Abstract: To delete unnecessary blank page(s) without changing a desired output layout requested by a user, a CPU of a controller unit sets fixed page image data, as image data of a plurality of consecutive pages whose relationship is to be fixed, among image data of a plurality of pages of a document read by a scanner unit. Further, the CPU detects image data corresponding to blank page(s) from the image data of the plurality of pages, and counts the number of pages of image data corresponding to the blank pages existing between the fixed page image data. Then, to determine an output layout of image data, the CPU deletes image data corresponding to all blank pages existing between the fixed page image data if the number of pages is an even number, and the CPU deletes image data corresponding to an even number of blank pages that are present between the fixed page image data if the number of pages is an odd number.
