  • Patent number: 7129920
Abstract: A method is provided for compensating for output nonuniformity on a display. The method comprises characterizing the display. The method further includes creating a set of data tables wherein one table provides data for compensation along vertical axes of the display and a second table provided data for compensation along horizontal axes of the display, and wherein components of the tables include a linear offset factor to correct data for nonuniformity and a slope factor which permits gray scale information to be recovered at points near the limits of the gray scale range. The characterizing step may include using a optical detector to obtain optical output information from the display. The slope factor may be calculated to preserve top end gray scale range of the display by adjusting luminous output so that input data level maps to separate output grey levels between a truncated and an untruncated level.

  • Patent number: 7123213
Abstract: In a structure in which six active matrix regions 103 to 108 are integrated on one glass substrate, horizontal scanning control circuits 101 and 102 are commonly disposed for the respective active matrix regions 103 to 105 and 106 to 108. Then, the horizontal scanning control circuits 101 and 102 are operated at different timings, and images formed by the active matrix regions 103 to 105 and 106 to 108 are synthesized and projected. With this operation, the horizontal scanning frequency required for one horizontal scanning control circuit can be made half of the horizontal scanning frequency of the display screen.

  • Patent number: 7102619
Abstract: A keyboard control apparatus with a USB interface for use in a notebook computer having a number of keys. In one embodiment, a mapping unit is employed to store a number of key matrix codes corresponding to the keys. In accordance with a clock signal and a start signal, a shift register is capable of generating a reference signal and a number of scan output signals. A key matrix circuit then receives the scan output signals to provide a number of scan input signals. An address generator is used to generate an address signal based on the reference signal and a triggered scan input signal. Thus, a selector can select one key matrix code designated to the address signal from the mapping unit. Additionally, an interface converter further converts the selected key matrix code into a pair of differential signals compliant with the USB specification.

  • Patent number: 7088345
Abstract: A method and system are defined which determine one or more alternate textual interpretations of each sequence of inputs detected within a designated auto-correcting keyboard region. The actual contact locations for the keystrokes may occur outside the boundaries of the specific keyboard key regions associated with the actual characters of the word interpretations proposed or offered for selection, where the distance from each contact location to each corresponding intended character may in general increase with the expected frequency of the intended word in the language or in a particular context. Likewise, in a mechanical keyboard system, the keys actuated may differ from the keys actually associated with the letters of the word interpretations. Each such sequence corresponds to a complete word, and the user can easily select the intended word from among the generated interpretations.

  • Patent number: 7088321
Abstract: A circuit is provided to drive LEDs or diode lasers that emit light in desired wavelengths, such as the primary colors red, green, and blue, which serve as the light source for a projection display system. A display controller controls one or more series-parallel arrays of each color LED in the LED circuit with control signals to synchronize the color output of the light source with image data received from an image data source such as a personal computer. Synchronization is achieved by sending control signals to the power supply and circuit switches to sequence the color output in a single path system or adjust continuous color output in a triple path system with minimal or no reductions in the brightness of the projected image.

Abstract: An active matrix type display includes supplementary capacity electrodes arranged at every pixel region in which a pixel electrode is formed, and supplementary capacities composed of a first and a second supplementary capacity lines arranged correspondingly to a plurality of the pixel electrodes. The display performs display by applying either of a first video signal voltage having a polarity inverting at every frame period or a second video signal voltage having a polarity inverse to that of the first video signal voltage to the pixel electrodes through switching elements. Thereby, so-called dot inversion driving can be realized through the supplementary capacity lines.
