  • Patent number: 5904012
Abstract: A wooden frame for window or door leaves is composed of frame pieces, each one of which comprising a first part facing outwards in a wall opening and a second part facing inwards. The outer, first part of the individual frame piece is delimited by two surfaces converging outwardly and at an acute angle relative to each other, said surfaces emanating from dividing cuts made in an initial log, said cuts extending radially from the area of the center of the log. In that way, the annual rings in the wood material are orientated in such a way that imagined tangents to individual annual rings cut through said surfaces substantially perpendicularly to the planes of the surfaces and older annual rings being situated closest to the free, narrow edge of the part.

  • Patent number: 5896712
Abstract: A roof-mounted cover for a tubular skylight includes a dome and a frusto-conical skirt depending downwardly from the dome. The skirt defines an open circular periphery, and plural circular grooves are formed on the inside surface of the skirt parallel to the periphery. The grooves direct light into a vertical reflecting tube that is in communication with the cover, and the light propagates downwardly through the tube and through a ceiling-mounted light diffuser to illuminate an interior room of the building on which the cover is mounted.

  • Patent number: 5896708
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for supporting a retractable roof. The support includes a support frame which supports the roof sections, and a follower wheel which moves along a rail formed in the retraction and expansion direction of the roof sections. The support frame has a base support having a spherical surface. Also included is a base capable of tolerating movement within a given range in the horizontal direction, substantially perpendicular to the rail and supported by the base support via a movement-limiting portion which limits the movement in the rail direction.

  • Patent number: 5893249
Abstract: An arrangement for connecting at least one transverse section (1, 2) and a main section (3) in a system of sections, especially for supporting suspended ceilings, comprises a laterally resilient locking tongue (9) projecting from the end of the transverse section and having a laterally projecting hook member (15), and a connecting hole (6) arranged in the main section and adapted to receive the locking tongue (9). Separate free-standing guide means (10, 11) are arranged on the end of the transverse section (1) for cooperating with the connecting hole (6) so as to impart to the transverse section (1, 2) and the main section (3) a fixed relative position when connected.

  • Patent number: 5893242
Abstract: A shutter assembly for installation on the outside of a building wall including one or two shutter panels fitted with top and bottom rollers moveable along tracks in a plane outwardly spaced from and parallel to the external wall. A rack is carried by each panel inside thereof and a pinion, meshing with this rack, is carried by a shaft extending through the wall and provided at its inner end, inside a building room with a crank wheel for moving the shutter panels between opened and closed position at the side and in front of a window opening respectively. The shutter panels are heat-insulated and are provided with seals to extend around the periphery of the window opening when the panels are in closed position to thereby form an air insulating chamber with a window unit within the window opening.

  • Patent number: 5878542
Abstract: A new log siding for installing on a structure to simulate an appearance of a log cabin. The inventive device includes a plurality of longitudinal sections adapted for coupling together in a side by side orientation and an end to end orientation on a wall of a structure. Each of the longitudinal sections has an arcuate central portion. The arcuate central portion has an upper edge extending upwardly therefrom. The upper edge has a downturned end portion forming a receiving slot. The arcuate central portion has a lower edge extending downwardly therefrom. The lower edge has an upturned portion on an intermediate portion thereof. The upturned portion has a slot formed therein. The lower edge has a plurality of apertures therethrough disposed below the upturned portion. The arcuate central portion has indicia thereon resembling a log. A plurality of corner posts are adapted for coupling with the longitudinal sections at corners of the structure.

  • Patent number: 5875595
Abstract: An improved post tensioning system for prefabricated building panels in which a concentric uniform radial compression is maintained in the slab. A post tensioning cable is placed in the concrete slab to form a perimeter loop starting from one corner of the slab to a point where the cable entered the slab and at a point turning 90.degree. to follow that portion of the cable in the periphery to a point midway up the Y axis and then turning 90.degree. across the X axis to bisect the slab and cross the opposite parallel portion of the cable to exit out the adjacent side of the slab. This creates a cable pattern with no less than 2.5 parallel cables in any direction.
