  • Patent number: 6053804
Abstract: A grinder attachment for precision grinding with an existing grinding machine having an external housing and a driven shaft rotatable about a grinding machine axis at a predetermined rotational speed when energized includes a driving pulley wheel having a first diameter attachable on the driven shaft for rotation therewith about the machine axis. The attachment to the housing is rigidly attached to the external housing of the grinding machine to substantially prevent any movements of the attachment housing in a three-dimensional space relative to the external housing in the grinding machine. A spindle is rotatably mounted on the attachment housing. A driven pulley wheel is fixedly mounted on a spindle to rotate with the spindle, a grinding abrasive element being mounted on the spindle at a grinding station for rotation therewith. Pulleys are mechanically coupled to cause rotation of the driven pulley when the driving pulley is rotated by the grinding machine.

  • Patent number: 6050928
Abstract: A paper folding device includes a drive roller, a delivery roller and a follower roller extending longitudinally between and mounted rotatably on a pair of partition plates. The delivery roller is mounted slidably on the partition plates so as to permit lateral movement of the delivery roller toward and away from the drive roller. A paper support member extends longitudinally between the partition plates, and is disposed below the delivery roller and the drive roller. The paper support member confines a paper inlet to permit extension of a paper sheet to be folded therein. Rotation of the drive roller forces the paper sheet that extends into the paper support member to bend toward the drive roller and the follower roller so as to be grasped by the latter in order to form a fold in the paper sheet.

  • Patent number: 6039638
Abstract: A method and apparatus for planarizing works can adjust an urging force or pressure applied to a work with ease in a short period of time, but also avoid wasteful use of rings. Wafers 100 adhered to a block 110 is made into contact with a lower surface plate 1. An annular ring 5 which encloses the wafers 100 is disposed in the peripheral portion of the block 110. The peripheral portion of the block 110 is pressed by a head 4 through an annular ring 5. Simultaneous with this, by rotating the lower surface plate 1 while pressing the central portion of the block 110 at a desired pressure by means of a center-pressing member 6 provided on the head 4, the wafers 100 are planarized.

  • Patent number: 6026872
Abstract: A log is first passed between a pair of coarse chippers to cut material from opposite faces of the log as coarse chips and produce a pair of flat sides. Then the log is passed between a pair of fine chippers to cut material from the flat sides as fine chips. The log is then rotated through about 90.degree. and the rotated log is passed between a second pair of coarse chippers to cut material from opposite faces of the log between the flat sides as coarse chips and producing two more flat sides. Finally the log is passed between a pair of fine chippers to cut material from the two more flat sides as fine chips. The coarse chips are 10 cm and 30 cm long, 1 mm and 5 mm thick, and about 35 mm wide and the fine chips are about 10 cm long, about 0.5 mm thick, and 3 cm wide.

  • Patent number: 6021772
Abstract: A bandsaw for cutting off slices from a workpiece includes a sawband which circulates over a system of pulleys and has a band back and a cutting edge, which is situated opposite to the band back and is provided with a cutting surface. There is also a feed system, which effects a relative movement between the workpiece and the cutting edge, so that the sawband penetrates into the workpiece, thus forming a cutting gap. The bandsaw has a support plate, which supports the band back and is held by a holding device. There is also a process for cutting off slices from a workpiece using this bandsaw. A part of the support plate, which part adjoins the band back, also penetrates into the cutting gap during the cutting of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6018935
Abstract: An apparatus for enrobing tablets in a gelatin layer includes a pair of die assemblies with each assembly including a rotatable, cylindrical die support and a series of die blocks mounted on this support for movement along a circular path. Each block has recesses formed in a top surface thereof and each recess of one assembly cooperates with a similar recess in the other assembly to form a cavity at a nip formed by the two assemblies. Each cavity is dimensioned to receive loosely therein one of the tablets. Two casting drums deliver gelatin strips to the die assemblies and each strip is pulled by one assembly into the nip. A time tablet dispensing mechanism is used to dispense tablets onto one of the strips at a feeding location. The preferred die blocks are made of hard plastics material. The tablet dispensing mechanism employs vacuum applying members operatively connected to a vacuum source and air cylinder transfer mechanisms for moving these members from a tablet pick-up position to the feeding location.

  • Patent number: 6015108
Abstract: A crusher which is simple in structure and capable of dismantling a building structure and recovering iron material from among dismantled remains of a building. A movable jaw is provided so as to be opened and closed relative to a fixed jaw fixed to the crusher main frame. A magnetic case made of a nonmagnetizable material is provided on the bottom of the main frame. A permanent magnet assembly is slidably mounted in the case. The permanent magnet assembly is connected to a hydraulic cylinder for sliding the permanent magnet. By actuating the hydraulic cylinder, the permanent magnet will move down so that iron material is attracted through a bottom plate of the magnet case. By raising the permanent magnet assembly, the magnet weakens, so that the attracted iron material drops by gravity.

  • Patent number: 6003284
Abstract: A automated packaging system that can simultaneously process a single case or a plurality of cases and can be adjusted to accommodate packages and cases of various sizes. Individual packages, are fed to the packaging system on the package conveyor. The packages are recognized by the system when they energize an electric eye which causes the package to be stopped and elevated below a pick and place mechanism. A plurality of cases are stopped and then positioned longitudinally, by stops carried by a first chain, on the case conveyor at locations aligned with the packages that have been stopped and elevated over the package conveyor. The pick and place head is lowered and picks up the packages with vacuum heads. The pick and place heads can be rotated to thus change the attitude of the package. The pick and place mechanism is then moved laterally over the case conveyor and the packages are lowered into the open cases.
