  • Patent number: 9021130
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention present a method and apparatus for photonic line sharing for high-speed routers. Photonic switches receive high-speed optical data streams and produce the data streams to a router operating according to routing logic and produce optical data streams according to destination addresses stored in the data packets. Each photonic switch can be configured as one of a 1:N multiplexer or an M:N cross-connect switch. In one embodiment, optical data is converted to electrical data prior to routing, while an alternate embodiment routes only optical data. Another embodiment transfers large volumes of high-speed data through an optical bypass line in a circuit switched network to bypass the switch fabric thereby routing the data packets directly to the destination. An edge device selects one of the packet switched network or the circuit switched network. The bypass resources are released when the large volume of high-speed data is transferred.

  • Patent number: 9014152
Abstract: Techniques to increase capacity in a wireless communications system. Systematic non-transmission, or “blanking,” of minimal-rate frames transmitted in a communications system is provided. In an exemplary embodiment, eighth rate frames in a cdma2000 voice communications system are systematically substituted with null-rate frames carrying zero traffic bits. The receiver detects the presence of null rate or non-null rate transmissions and processes the received frames accordingly. Techniques for changing the pilot transmission gating pattern to assist the receiver in detecting null rate frames are provided. In another aspect, early termination of a signal transmission over a wireless communications link is provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a base station (BS) transmits power control groups (PCG's) for a frame over a forward link (FL) to a mobile station (MS) until accurate reception of the frame is acknowledged by the MS over a reverse link (RL), possibly before all PCG's of the frame are received.

  • Patent number: 8982688
Abstract: A method and system for detecting congestion in a network of nodes, abating the network congestion, and identifying the cause of the network congestion is provided. A congestion detection system may comprise a detection system, an abatement system, and a causation system. The detection system monitors the performance of network components such as the network interface controllers and tiles of routers to determine whether the network is congested such that a delay in delivering packets becomes unacceptable. Upon detecting that the network is congested, an abatement system abates the congestion by limiting the rate at which packets are injected into the network from the nodes. Upon detecting that the network is congested, a causation system may identify the job that is executing on a node that is the cause of the network congestion.

  • Patent number: 8977764
Abstract: Application usage is profiled based on application streaming. Code pages of multiple applications are streamed from a server to multiple client computers (endpoints) for execution. The streaming of the code pages is monitored, and usage data is collected such as which pages are streamed to which endpoints, under what circumstances and when. By referencing the streamed code pages and the underlying source code, the code pages are mapped (at least approximately) to corresponding application features. The collected usage data usage and the relevant mapping are analyzed, to create application usage profile data for streamed applications. The application usage profile data can include such information as how often, when, where and by whom application components are being executed, as well as which components cause errors, are most popular, confuse users, etc.

  • Patent number: 8934420
Abstract: A method is provided to receive and transmit network frames across a network. A wireless access point device is configured operate as a wireless bridge (e.g., wireless workgroup bridge) to reserve a predetermined number of bits of a media access control (MAC) address of the wireless access point device. Combinations of the predetermined number of bits can be assigned by the wireless access point device to respective ones of a plurality of wired clients of the wireless access point device. The wireless access point device can store data that maps the combinations of the predetermined number of bits of the mapped MAC addressees. The access point device can then process downstream network frames received wirelessly from a root wireless access point and can process upstream network frames received from the plurality of wired clients.

  • Patent number: 8934419
Abstract: A system, method, and node for protecting a telecommunication system against a mobile and multi-homed attacker, MMA (10). The telecommunication system includes one or more correspondent nodes, CN, (102, 104) for transferring data packets. A mobile and multi-homed network node, MMN, (108) associated with the MMA communicates and receives data packets with the CN. An access router, AR, (106) transferring data between the MMN and the CN performs a reachability test with the MMN to determine if the MMN is still reachable. The AR sends a message to the CN to flush cached information associated with the MMN if the MMN is not reachable by the AR. The CN, upon receiving the message to flush cached information, flushes binding cache entries associated with the MMN from the CN.

Abstract: A vehicle network link module includes network fabric ports, a port, a switching circuit, and a link manager. The network fabric ports are operable for coupling to corresponding network fabric ports of another vehicle network fabric link module. The port is operable for coupling to a port of a vehicle network module. The switching circuit is operable to connect an active network fabric port to the port. The link manager determines whether vehicle network packet conveyance via the active network fabric port has degenerated below a threshold. When the vehicle network packet conveyance has degenerated below a threshold, the link manager determines use mode of the active network fabric port. The link manager processing module then selects a new active network fabric port based on the use mode. The link manager then activates the new active network fabric port for coupling via the switching circuit to the port.
