Abstract: Firearms with recoil mitigation have a frame with a connected slide, the slide configured to reciprocate relative to the frame along a slide reciprocation path, the slide having a ramp surface angularly offset from the slide reciprocation path by a first angle, a follower element connected to the frame and configured to reciprocate with respect to the frame along a follower path, the follower being biased toward the slide, and the follower having a slide contact portion configured to contact the ramp surface of the slide, such that reciprocation of the slide generates reciprocation of the follower element. The reciprocation of the slide may define a horizontal plane. The ramp surface may face downwardly and rearwardly. The slide may include a top panel and opposed downwardly-depending side panels each having lower edges. The ramp surface may be formed in a cutout above the lower edge of a side panel.
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting a position of a breech of a weapon using a breech position detector. The breech position detector includes one or more electrical leads configured to make physical contact with the weapon, a DC detector configured to detect a DC signal at one of the one or more electrical leads, a RF detector configured to detect a RF signal at one of the one or more electrical leads, and a controller. The controller is configured to perform operations including receiving the DC signal from the DC detector, receiving the RF signal from the RF detector, and determining the position of the breech based on one or both of the DC signal and the RF signal. The operations may also include comparing a magnitude of the DC signal to a DC threshold and comparing a magnitude of the RF signal to a RF threshold.
Abstract: An accessory mounting device to pivotably mount an accessory to a weapon such as a firearm provides recoil dampening and generally may also include an accessory mount, a weapon attachment base, an arbor, and a detent mechanism. Advantageously, to flip or rotate the accessory mount through about 90 degrees between a first position above the base and a second position along a side of the base requires only grasping the accessory mount and rotating it from either of the positions through 90 degrees to the other position. No separate manual action to disengage any type of locking device is required, nor is any longitudinal or lateral translation of the mount involved. The function of providing stabilized, consistent location in each of the two positions, resistance to movement from each position, and manual movement of the mount that overcomes the resistance and rotates between the positions is provided by the detent mechanism.

Abstract: A stabilizing device for a small arms weapon is disclosed. The stabilizing device may include a housing, a starboard side support member, a port side support member, and a primary hinge pin. The primary hinge pin, the starboard side support member, and the port side support member may form a joint. The stabilizing device further may include a webbing. The webbing may include one end secured to the starboard side support member and another end secured to the port side support member. The webbing may form a sling. The sling may be configured and dimensioned to rest on a body disposed between the first base and the second base. The body may be the forearm of an operator grasping the small arms weapon in a single hand. In one embodiment, the stabilizing device for a small arms weapon is connected to a pistol chassis.
Abstract: A modified muzzle device designed to utilize the threads of a rifle barrel to hold a standard handguard retainer at the proper length to use a carbine length handguard on the upper assembly of a weapon.
Abstract: A quick release pin is used in a firearm to secure a barrel assembly to a frame and a recoil assembly within a slide. The cylindrical body of the pin functions similarly to traditional takedown pins and pivot pins used with firearms while the lever arm has unique features that are an improvement over traditional takedown pins. The arm has a locking lip at its proximate end, a detent at its distal end, and a cut-out center section which is thinner than the distal end and proximal end. The cut-out center section creates a space between the arm and the firearm's side when the arm is in its locked configuration which provides side edges for a user to grasp the edges of the arm between a finger and thumb while the thicker distal end of the arm is in flush contact with the side of the firearm.

Abstract: A suppressor for a firearm includes a casing that defines a rear end opposed to a front end. A plurality of baffles are inside the casing. A rear cap is upstream from the plurality of baffles and releasably coupled to the rear end of the casing, and the rear cap includes an upstream surface. A rear cap surface feature is defined by the upstream surface of the rear cap. A front cap is downstream from the plurality of baffles and releasably coupled to the front end of the casing, and the front cap includes an upstream surface. A front cap surface feature is defined by the front cap, and the front cap surface feature has a complementary shape to the rear cap surface feature so the front cap surface feature can engage with the rear cap surface feature to remove the rear cap from the casing.

Abstract: A buttstock assembly configured to work in conjunction with a compact buffer assembly consisting of a buffer tube, spring and bolt carrier with an integral buffer is provided. The buttstock assembly, buffer tube and bolt carrier are configured to work with AR15/M16 type firearms and their derivatives. By incorporating the buffer onto the bolt carrier, which is used in conjunction with a buffer tube of reduced length, the overall length of the host firearm is reduced by approximately 3.2 inches. No permanent modification need be made to the host firearm in order to utilize the compact buffer assembly and buttstock assembly disclosed herein.
Abstract: A handguard attachment assembly for a firearm is disclosed. The assembly includes a handguard with an elongate structure extending between a first end and a second end, where the handguard has at least one opening proximate the first end. A flange insert is received in an opening on a first side of the handguard and engages the handguard. A fastener secures the flange insert to a connector positioned over the barrel nut. The fastener can be tightened to draw the handguard to the barrel nut. The connector can be a bridge connector positioned on or over the barrel nut within the handguard, or can be a connector with a flange portion that engages the second side of the handguard and has a connector body that extends towards the flange insert on the first side, to name a few examples.

Abstract: A modular precision rifle assembly 150 and a method for configuring rifle components allowing users to change barrel subassemblies 214 (i.e., for a replacement barrel for use with the same ammunition or a barrel configured for shooting a different ammunition caliber or type) includes three main components including a receiver subassembly 212, a barrel subassembly 214 and a forend subassembly 200. The receiver subassembly 212 includes a receiver housing 300 with a central lumen defining a plurality of substantially cylindrical contiguous cavities aligned along a central axis 300CA. The barrel assembly's bore is automatically forced into axial alignment with central axis 300CA when a user tightens a barrel coupler nut 500 against a barrel extension 400 due to the centering force generated when the extension's centering surface 410 bears against the coupler nut's cooperating centering surface 520.
Abstract: A trigger mechanism for a firearm is presented. The trigger mechanism has a trigger housing, a sear, a sear block and a trigger lever. Actuation of the trigger causes the trigger lever to rotate and eventually come into contact and move the sear block, which permits the sear to fall and permits the actuation of the firing mechanism. The trigger lever may be pivotally secured to the housing at a first pivot and the sear block is pivotally secured to the housing at a second pivot. The first and second pivots may be spaced apart from each other or coincident.

Abstract: A buffer assembly for a firearm with a frame containing a bolt that moves during a firing cycle, the assembly having a case containing a movable piston, a piston spring for biasing the piston forwardly, a spring flange engaged with the piston spring, an end cap for closing the case, one or more resilient washers between the spring flange and the end cap, and a buffer spring in the piston spring that is shorter than the piston spring, so that during a firing cycle, the bolt engage a contact end of the piston to move the piston rearwardly the piston spring to decelerate the bolt until the piston engages the buffer spring to further decelerate the bolt, the resilient washers compressing to contribute to the deceleration.
Abstract: A stock assembly for a takedown firearm and related methods are disclosed. The stock assembly has a buttstock assembly, and a forend assembly removably couplable to the buttstock assembly at a first location and a second location. When the forend assembly is coupled to the buttstock at the first location, the forend assembly is positioned to support a barrel of the firearm in a longitudinal firing position. When the forend assembly is coupled to the buttstock at the second location, the forend assembly is positioned to support the barrel at an angle relative to the longitudinal firing position.
Abstract: A guard for protecting the scope and action of a hunting rifle or the action of a shotgun. The guard can be folded around the scope and action of the rifle or around the action of the shotgun and is held in place by magnets positioned along opposite edges of the guard. The other edges of the guard are gathered by elastic material so that when the guard is folded around the scope and action of the rifle or around the action of the shotgun, the other edges form a cuff around the pistol grip of the rifle or shotgun and a cuff around the forend of the rifle or shotgun.
Abstract: A concentric rifle barrel assembly includes an outer sleeve having a plurality of threads along the first and second ends, an elongated rifle barrel, and a locking nut. The first end of the rifle barrel is removably positioned within the sleeve and includes a chamber that is sized to receive a firearm cartridge. Threads on the locking nut engage the second end of the sleeve, and a positioning ring that is located a first distance from the first end of the rifle barrel. The first distance being complementary to the length of the sleeve minus the length of the rim of the firearm cartridge for which the barrel is designed to accommodate. Fluting is provided along one or both of the rifle barrel and the sleeve, and the sleeve is designed to receive any number of different rifle barrels each sized to accommodate cartridges of different sizes and calibers.
