  • Patent number: 8514703
Abstract: Techniques for scheduling logical channels for data transmission are described. In one design, a user equipment (UE) is configured with a plurality of logical channels for sending data on the uplink. Each logical channel is associated with a priority and a data buffer size. The UE maintains a token bucket for each logical channel. In each scheduling interval or when an uplink grant is received, the UE determines a bucket level (which may be a positive value or a non-positive value) for each of the plurality of logical channels. The UE ascertains logical channels with bucket levels of the same polarity and then identifies logical channels of the same priority among all logical channels with the same bucket level polarity. The UE selects at least one identified logical channel for scheduling based on the data buffer size and/or the bucket level for each identified logical channel.

  • Patent number: 8514876
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining an indication that a state associated with a node is to be changed and preventing data from being received on a first link. The method also includes updating at least one selected from a group including an incoming interface check (IIC) table and an outgoing interface (OIF) table to reflect the state. The state indicates that a second link is to be activated. Finally, the method includes allowing the data to be received on the second link after updating either or both the IIC table and the OIF table and after the timer duration for the NULL value for IIC has expired.

  • Patent number: 8509245
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for routing data in a network. The data is routed from a source in the network to a destination in the network along a path from the source to the destination through a plurality of nodes in the network using state information. The plurality of nodes forms the network and comprises static nodes and mobile nodes. In response to a loss of a route at a node in the mobile nodes, the node sends the data is sent to all other nodes in the plurality of nodes. Responses are received at the node from the destination through a number of paths from the destination to the node. Updated state information for the node is identified using the responses. The data is sent from the node to the destination along a selected route for the node using the updated state information.

  • Patent number: 8457199
Abstract: A video signal is coded by generating, at a transmitter, a difference signal (at 2) representing the differences between a picture to be transmitted and a predicted picture based on a stored locally decoded picture. This is decoded to generate a fresh locally decoded picture. The transmitter also generates a check signal, such as a CRC, as a function of the locally decoded picture. The receiver decodes the difference signal to create a decoded picture. It compares the decoded picture with the check signal, and generates an error signal if the two do not tally.

  • Patent number: 8437361
Abstract: Techniques are provided herein to adaptively and independently disable use of subchannels in transmission sent from a first wireless communication device to a second wireless communication device. The first wireless communication device receives transmission sent to it by the second wireless communication device. The transmissions occupy some or all of a plurality of subchannels within a frequency band that are available for use in the transmission. The transmissions received at the first wireless communication device are evaluated in each subchannel for an over-the-air wireless link between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device. Based on the evaluation, zero or more of the plurality of subchannels are independently disabled in transmissions that are sent by the first wireless communication device to the second wireless communication device.

  • Patent number: 8325729
Abstract: Device and method for calculating distance in a communication network. Device A sets a non-predictable initial Time-To-Live (TTL) value and sends a message with this value to device B. B reads the TTL of the received message. A and B establish a Secure Authenticated Channel over which B sends the TTL of the received message. A may then calculate the distance to B. If the received TTL is greater than the initial TTL, this indicates an error or an attack; if the received TTL is lower than the initial TTL minus a TTL limit, then B is too distant; and if the initial TTL minus the TTL limit is less than or equal to the received TTL, which in turn is less than or equal to the initial TTL, then A may conclude that B a priori is within the required distance.
