  • Patent number: 7820912
Abstract: An electrical outlet cover assembly includes an electrical outlet mounting box having a front edge that does not extend beyond a front surface of a wall. An extendable base is coupled with the electrical outlet mounting box and is slideable between collapsed and extended positions. When collapsed, a leading edge of the extendable base does not extend beyond the front surface of the wall. One or more guides resist decoupling of the extendable base and the electrical outlet mounting box. A lid is pivotably coupled with the extendable base, and one of the lid and the extendable base has a cord port along their respective edges. The lid has a front surface and is positionable between open and closed positions. The lid's front surface is substantially flush with the front surface of the wall when the base is collapsed and the lid is closed with respect to the extendable cover.

  • Patent number: 7820909
Abstract: A tamper-resistant electrical receptacle includes a cover defining a set of cover apertures; and a slider defining an aperture therein and being movable between a first position blocking the set of cover apertures and a second position not blocking the set of cover apertures, wherein when an object probes at least one and fewer than all of the set of cover apertures, the slider is constrained in the first position. When a set of prongs is inserted simultaneously through the set of cover apertures, the prongs contact a slider surface that is oriented substantially orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the set of prongs such that the slider is urged from the first to the second position. When in the second position the slider aperture aligns with at least one of the set of cover apertures to enable the set of prongs to contact the receptacle contacts.

  • Patent number: 7816604
Abstract: A recessed low voltage mounting assembly including a low voltage mounting bracket and a trim plate for installing a low voltage electrical component in either old work or new construction. Two options are provided for mounting the assembly to the wall. In new construction, two captive fasteners in the mounting bracket are available to be driven into a stud or other framework of the building. In an old work situation, rotatable flags are provided for securing the assembly to the wall. Adjustment screws for rotating and tightening the flags are accessible through apertures in the trim plate. The assembly recesses the low voltage component behind the wall surface, thereby enabling placement of low voltage devices in close proximity to the wall and mounting assembly. A second embodiment provides a one-piece version of the low voltage mounting assembly in which the trim plate is integral with the bracket.

  • Patent number: 7812255
Abstract: A Chicago-style plenum-type electrical junction box provides an air impermeable barrier between a box support structure and a junction enclosure. The junction box includes a base plate and a peripheral wall, the peripheral wall extending from the base plate such that the base plate and peripheral wall define the junction enclosure. The base plate preferably includes a series of fastener knockouts so as to provide an air impermeable barrier. The fastener knockouts are selectively removable for exposing a series of fastener-receiving apertures. The fastener-receiving apertures receive a series of fasteners for sealing the fastener-receiving apertures when fastening the junction box to the box support structure thereby providing an air tight barrier between the box support structure and the junction enclosure.

  • Patent number: 7800003
Abstract: When an insulator is used in a humid atmosphere, the cooling thereof causes a humidity condensation, which is deposited on the insulator surface. Drops of water formed by the humidity condensation are connected to each other that a water film substantially reducing the insulation resistance of the insulator is formed. In order to solve said problem, the inventive insulator is provided, at least partially, with a hydrophobe surface. In such a way, the water layers formed by condensation are drained off the surface or detached there from without connection and the drops of water produced by condensation are unable to be bound to each other, thereby making it possible to maintain a desired high insulation resistance.
