Patent number: 9948081Abstract: An asymmetric Stockbridge damper having at least six and as many as ten resonant frequencies. The damper includes two assemblies, each having a primary weight at the end of a messenger cable and two secondary weights at the ends of thin beams. The thin beams are mounted at one end to the primary weight and each support a secondary weight at an opposite end. The thin beams extend parallel to the messenger cable. The messenger cable is affixed to a clamp assembly which clamps to an overhead transmission line. The clamp assembly includes a toggle crank generating a theoretically infinite clamping force on the transmission line.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2017Date of Patent: April 17, 2018Assignee: CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITYInventors: Oumar Rafiou Barry, Emadeddin Y. Patent number: 8026452Abstract: Disclosed herein is a cable coupler for the connection of an armored cable having an armor layer. The cable coupler of the present invention includes a sleeve, which has an inclined surface, which is brought into contact with the armor layer of the armored cable, and a fastening ring and a support ring, each of which has a small width. Each of the fastening ring and the support ring includes inclined surfaces, which are formed by reducing the thickness thereof from a medial portion thereof to opposite ends. The inner inclined surfaces of the fastening ring and the support ring have inclination angles similar to that of the inclined surface of the sleeve. In addition, the armor layer can be firmly held by the cable coupler despite the use of a relatively small force, thus enhancing labor efficiency. As well, armor layers having various thicknesses can be held by the cable coupler merely by changing the positions of the fastening ring and the support ring, thus increasing the usefulness of the cable coupler.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2008Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Dong-A Bestech Co., Ltd.Inventor: Jun-Jip Bae

Patent number: RE40447Abstract: A receptacle for enclosing low-voltage electronic devices and maintaining the integrity of a vapor barrier. The receptacle includes a base, and four side walls. Each side wall is joined to two adjacent side walls to form a perimeter wall. The perimeter wall is joined to the base and extends from it in a generally perpendicular fashion. The perimeter wall and base delineate a generally rectangular enclosure with five closed sides and one open side. A mounting flange is joined to the four side walls and extends from them in a generally perpendicular fashion. The receptacle is positioned within a wall of a building so as to allow at least one flange direct contact with a structural member. The structural members of the wall and the receptacle are both covered with a barrier film. The barrier film is sealingly attached to the flange.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2004Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: Professional Partners Ltd.Inventor: Steven Neujahr
