  • Patent number: 5168580
Abstract: An attractive jacket design having removable and changable panels that has the overall effect of lowering the cost of sport jackets. With this invention, chest, shoulder and back panels on the jacket are easily removable and changeable in order to allow a user of the jacket to use one set of patches with the jacket for one purpose or event and to remove those patches from the jacket and put another set of patches on the jacket for another purpose or event, which permits the manufacture of a set of patches for various teams rather than a set of jackets, thus reducing overall manufcturing cost.

  • Patent number: 5165110
Abstract: A firefighter's coat which has a body section and a pair of sleeve sections. Each of the sleeve sections when attached to the body section has an upper portion provided with a given length dimension and a lower portion provided with a length dimension greater than the given length dimension of the upper portion of the sleeve section. Therefore, the arms of the firefighter who wears the firefighter's coat can be freely moved as the sleeve sections are moved without appreciable strain between the sleeve sections and the body section and without significant responsive movement of the body section of the firefighter's coat. Therefore, stress upon the firefighter as a result of arm movement is minimal.

  • Patent number: 5161261
Abstract: A recess is provided in the inner surface of a primary shield plate which is connected to a cap body of a helmet through a pivotal mounting means, and a step depressed from the inner surface of the primary shield plate is formed at the entire peripheral edge of an opening of the recess. An inner shield plate is fitted to the step and bonded thereto with a soft adhesive, so that a heat insulating space tightly closed in the recess is defined by the primary shield plate and the inner shield plate. The inner surfaces of the primary shield plate and the inner shield plate are formed into a continuous surface which comes into close contact with a sealing member provided at a peripheral edge of a window opening in the cap body. This ensures that clouding of the inner surface of the shield can be prevented regardless of conditions of use such as the presence and absence of travel wind and the temperature of the open air.

  • Patent number: 5159721
Abstract: A firefighter's trousers of the type constructed of firefighting protective material. The firefighter's trousers have a torso section and a pair of leg sections. The torso section and the leg sections are joined by one or more panels which form a crotch region in the firefighter's trousers. Therefore, there is no conventional center seam in the crotch region, and the life of the firefighter's trousers is enhanced. Also, during leg movement of the firefighter who wears the firefighter's trousers there is no strain between the leg sections and the torso section. Therefore, the firefighter's trousers of the invention minimize the stress upon the firefighter and the comfort in the wearing of the firefighter's trousers is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5153945
Abstract: A head of a wearer is covered by a hood to protect the head from rain or snow. The hood comprises a hood body formed of an outer sheet and an inner sheet bonded together to form a space therebetween. When air is inflated into the space, the hood body enlarges to form a solid shape over the entire hood body. An edge portion is formed around a front opening of the hood body. The edge portion, in use, expands outwardly to allow water on the hood body to flow along the edge portion without crossing the front opening. At least one air passage device is attached to the hood body to allow air blown into the hood to pass or escape therethrough. When the air passage devices are formed near ears of the wearer, the air passage devices help audibility.
