  • Patent number: 5937475
Abstract: The invention relates to a water extraction cleaning machine having a variable solution mixing valve adapted to create cleaning solution mixtures of variable constituent ratios. Clean water and detergent are provided from tanks supported on the water extraction cleaning machines. The size of the detergent inlet opening can be altered through rotation of a control knob provided on the outside of the water extraction cleaning machine. The knob is interconnected to at least one member which is adapted to vary the size of one of the detergent fluid inlet and the clean water inlet so that the ratio of constituent elements can be altered depending upon the cleaning application.

  • Patent number: 5933869
Abstract: The present invention discloses sports headgear with an attached widow's veil which covers part or all of the face of the wearer. The headgear is designed to worn by a woman wanting to humorously express her "sorrow" at being displaced by a man's exclusive interest in a sporting activity. The preferred headgear is a peaked baseball cap with the veil attached to the front of the cap. The veil is of fine mesh and has wide interstices so that the face of the wearer, (and her expression), may be clearly seen, and the preferred color of the veil material is black. It will be appreciated that the juxtaposition of a sporting element (the cap) and a badge of sadness (the widow's veil) when worn together, communicates a woman's feelings of being left out of the fun in a wry subliminal manner. Other embodiments of the invention include the baseball cap and veil, with an inscription "WIDOWWEAR" on the crown at the front of the cap along with an icon representing the sport being targeted, e.g.

  • Patent number: 5924134
Abstract: A protective garment including an outer shell, a thermal liner and a moisture barrier, in which the thermal liner includes a flame and heat resistant apertured closed-cell foam laminate. The apertured closed-cell foam laminate comprises a layer of apertured closed-cell foam material positioned between and bonded to a substrate of woven aramid material and a substrate of aramid material of a lesser or equal grade. The thermal liner is appreciably non-moisture absorbent and provides high thermal insulation for its weight and thickness in comparison to prior art thermal liners. Accordingly, the overall weight of the garment is minimized, as is the movement-restricting effect of the liner. The non-absorbency of the thermal liner allows the liner to be positioned between the moisture barrier and the outer shell of the garment so that the liner does not restrict flow of perspiration moisture vapor from the wearer to the moisture barrier.

  • Patent number: 5920909
Abstract: A hair wrap confines the hair of the wearer while the wearer is engaged in activities where the wearer desires to keep her/his hair confined and not falling over her/his face or otherwise interfering with such activities. Preferably, the hair wrap is annular with upper and lower annular edges, having elastic therein, defining upper and lower expandable openings which permit the hair wrap to be placed over the head and down around the neck of the wearer. A pliable material, intermediate the upper and lower annular edges of the hair wrap provides a pocket at the rear of the hair wrap for receiving the hair of the wearer. In use, the hair wrap is passed over the head and down around the neck of the wearer with the hair of the wearer extending over the rear portion of the hair wrap. The front of the hair wrap is then raised above the forehead and the hair extending over the rear of the hair wrap is inserted into the rear pocket of the hair wrap to confine the hair.

  • Patent number: 5920905
Abstract: A firefighter garment which includes an outer shell, a thermal layer and a combination moisture barrier and facecloth. In the preferred embodiment, the combination moisture barrier and facecloth layer includes a semi-permeable component, such as polytetrafluoroethylene, which is attached to a facecloth material of a high lubricity filament yarn. The semi-permeable component functions as a moisture barrier and the filament yarn component provides a low friction interface between the garment and its wearer, thereby reducing heat stress imposed on the wearer of the garment during firefighting activity. The filament component also functions as a substrate for the moisture barrier. In the preferred embodiment, the thermal liner includes a layer of apertured flame and heat resistant unicellular or closed cell foam which is positioned between the outer shell and the combination moisture barrier and facecloth.
