Abstract: An administrator charged with responsibility for one or more administered wireless devices can use a wireless device to disable lost or stolen devices using an SMS lost-mode message. The data of the lost-mode message can be encrypted to prevent malicious attacks. The encrypted data may include a universal device identifier unique to the target device, the phone number of the administrator's device, and a time stamp memorializing command or message creation. Successful decryption authenticates the administrator. Before executing the lost-mode command, however, the target device reviews the unique identifier to verify the target and compares the phone number of the administrator's device with the number identified with the incoming SMS message to authenticate the relaying device. The target device can also consider an embedded time stamp to determine whether the lost-device command has been superseded.
Abstract: A method and system for controlling operation of a first access node that supports operation according to a first radio access technology (RAT) but does not support dual-connectivity operation according to the first RAT and a second RAT. A controller detects a high extent of occurrences of dual-connectivity-capable user equipment devices (UEs) being connected with the first access node when the dual-connectivity-capable UEs could instead connect with a second access node that supports the dual-connectivity operation. And in response, the controller suppresses coverage of the first access node, such as by reducing a maximum signal delay that the first access node applies for determining whether to accept random-access requests from UEs and/or (ii) reducing reference-signal transmission power of the first access node.

Abstract: A device associated with a home network may receive an access point name (APN) request from a device associated with a visitor network, wherein the APN request is associated with a user device. The device associated with the home network may cause, based on the APN request, a virtual home network to be instantiated that includes a virtual gateway, wherein the virtual home network is physically closer to the user device than the home network. The device associated with the home network may generate an APN that identifies the virtual home network and the virtual gateway. The device associated with the home network may cause the APN to be sent to the device associated with the visitor network to cause a gateway associated with the visitor network to connect to the virtual gateway.

Abstract: A tracking device has a first transceiver, a second transceiver, and control logic. The first transceiver can transmit a first tracking signal for locating the tracking device to mobile devices via a first network. The mobile devices provide the first tracking signal to a tracking server. The second transceiver can transmit a second tracking signal for locating the tracking device to the tracking server via a second network. The control logic can configure the tracking device in a first state in which the first transceiver transmits the first tracking signal, and the second transceiver is disabled and does not transmit the second tracking signal. In response to determining that the tracking device cannot connect to the tracking server via the first network, the control logic configures the tracking device in a second state in which the second transceiver is enabled and transmits the second tracking signal.

Abstract: A method of correcting a radio wave strength of a packet received by a communication terminal is disclosed, comprising: displaying a first screen related to the correction of the radio wave strength of the received packet; acquiring first information indicating the radio wave strength of the received packet, according to acceptance of a predetermined user instruction via the first screen; displaying a second screen related to the correction of the radio wave strength of the received packet, at least according to completion of the acquisition; acquiring second information indicating the radio wave strength of the received packet, according to acceptance of a predetermined user operation via the second screen; and deciding a correction value at least based on the acquired first and second information. Thus, it is possible to accurately perform proximity determination of determining that a mobile terminal and an information processing apparatus are within a certain distance.
Abstract: Techniques for enhancing an image are described. For example, a lower-resolution image, for example from a video file, may be enhanced using a trained neural network by applying the trained neural network to enhance a middle lower-resolution image of a plurality of lower-resolution images using a generator with filters of a generative adversary network. In some examples, a plurality of sequential feature processing acts are performed on the lower-resolution images to generate a residual which is added to a filtered version of one of the lower-resolution images to generate an enhanced image.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to a bilateral filter circuit for directional filtering of an image. The directional bilateral filter circuit determines an edge direction and a weight for the edge direction by processing differences between pixel values of pixels in a first block of pixels in the image. The bilateral filter circuit determines non-directional taps for pixels in a second block by processing pixel locations, and determines directional taps by processing differences between pixel values, gradient information for the second block and the edge direction. The bilateral filter circuit determines final filter taps for pixels in the second block by blending corresponding non-directional taps and directional taps using the weight. The bilateral filter circuit obtains a pixel value of a filtered image by multiplying the final filter taps to corresponding pixel values of the pixels in the second block and adding the multiplied values.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for determining the presence of objects in an image. The techniques used process pixel data within the image by a relatively small number of pixel rows at a time. The angle and magnitude date from the pixels within an image are redistributed into a plurality histogram of magnitude bins associated with groupings of pixels. Once enough groupings of pixels equivalent to the height of a Block worth of pixels have been made, partial Support Vector Machine (SVM) calculations are performed on that Block worth of pixels. This is repeated until there are sufficient partial results equivalent to the height of the feature window, and then a full SVM calculation is performed. This process then may be used to scan across the whole image to determine the presence of objects within it.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method includes receiving a sequence of images of a subject, the sequence captured by an image acquisition device over a time period in which relative locations of the image acquisition device varies with respect to the subject. A first image and a second image are selected from the first sequence of images. The first and second images represent a first relative location and a second relative location, respectively, of the image acquisition device with respect to the subject. A three-dimensional representation of the first subject is generated using the first image and the second image as a stereo pair. It is determined, based on the first three dimensional representation, that the first subject is an alternative representation of a live person, and in response, access to a secure system is prevented.
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed in which generic position methods in a wireless network allow positioning of a target user equipment (UE) that is served by any one (or more) of a number of different Radio Access Technologies (RATs) and that allow measurements by the UE of access nodes belonging to different RATs and/or measurements of the UE by access nodes for different RATs. With a generic position method, a common set of procedures, messages, and parameters may be defined that are applicable to multiple RATs and that do not require a location server to know in advance the serving RAT for a target UE.
