Abstract: A stent delivery system may be used to position a stent in a body lumen. An endoscope may be positionable in the stent delivery system facilitating direct visual observation during placement of the stent. The stent delivery system may include a first conduit, wherein the endoscope is positionable. A second conduit, wherein the first conduit is positionable, may function to releasably position the stent in the body lumen during use. The stent delivery system may include a lock that functions to inhibit movement of the first conduit relative to the second conduit during use. Retraction of the distal end of the second conduit, relative to the first conduit and the stent, may deploy the stent in a body lumen. Indicia, visibly positioned on the proximal end of the stent delivery system, may function to facilitate determination of an extent of deployment of the stent during use.

Abstract: An insertion device includes an insertion needle holder and a drive mechanism for linearly moving the insertion needle holder in a puncturing direction. The insertion needle holder also includes at least one actuating element for actuating a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism converts a driving motion of the actuating element, which extends transversely or opposite to the puncturing direction, into a puncturing motion of the insertion needle holder.

Abstract: A collapsible and deployable filter for blocking debris and passing blood in a blood vessel in a patient's body, the filter including; a framework of a flexible material, constructed to have a radially compressed state, in which the framework is radially compressed by radial deforming forces, and a radially expanded state to obdurate an artery; and a flexible filter material secured to said framework and having pores dimensioned to prevent the passage of debris therethrough while allowing the passage of blood. The filter has, in the radially expanded state of the framework, a generally conical or frustoconical form with a large diameter end, a small diameter end opposite to the large diameter end, and a side surface extending between the ends. The filter has an opening that is free of filter material at the small diameter end or in the side surface.
Abstract: A surgical tool for performing anastomosis may include a handle and a tissue effector connected by a shaft, at least party of which may be flexible. The tissue effector may include a staple holder connected to an anvil.

Abstract: Provided is an introducer for use with otolaryngological devices such as Eustachian tube stents. The introducer includes a guide, a stopper, an engager, and a release mechanism. An otolaryngological device having a first surface and a second surface that is nonparallel to the first surface may be loaded on the introducer by frictionally engaging the first surface of the device to a distal terminus of the engager. The device may be unloaded from the introducer by actuating the release mechanism. Upon actuation, the release mechanism slides the distal terminus of the engager toward the guide while the stopper abuts the second surface of the device. As a result, the relative motion between the engager and the stopper slides the device off the engager. Also provided are kits that include the introducer and methods for using the introducer.
Abstract: A balloon catheter having multiple tubular members, an adaptor member connected thereto and a balloon for dilation of constricted blood vessel, wherein the peeling strength of the balloon surfaces when adheres to each other is 0.06 N or more and the modulus of the balloon in the axial direction is 100 N/mm2 or more, and wherein the coated resin composition contains a hydrophilic resin that is lubricating when wet. Furthermore, the outer surface of the balloon is made of a polyamide elastomer resin composition having a durometer hardness of 55 D or less. Thus, there can be provided a balloon catheter excelling in handling property, for which keeping the balloon highly penetrable through the stricture site as the accordion phenomenon of the balloon is prevented, and simultaneously preserving the other properties of the balloon (flexibility of balloon, wrapping dimension, and dilation/shrinkage response etc.).
Abstract: Sealable and repositionable implant devices are provided with one or more improvements that increase the ability of implants such as endovascular grafts to be precisely deployed or re-deployed, with better in situ accommodation to the local anatomy of the targeted recipient anatomic site, and/or with the ability for post-deployment adjustment to accommodate anatomic changes that might compromise the efficacy of the implant. A surgical implant includes an implant body and a selectively adjustable assembly attached to the implant body, having adjustable elements, and operable to cause a configuration change in a portion of the implant body and, thereby, permit implantation of the implant body within an anatomic orifice to effect a seal therein under normal physiological conditions.

Abstract: Braid-balls suitable for aneurysm occlusion and/or parent vessel occlusion/sacrifice (e.g., in treating neurovascular defects) are disclosed. Especially for aneurysm treatment, but also for either one of the aforementioned treatments, the form of the ball is very important. In particular, the density of the device is paramount in applications where braid itself is intended to moderate or stop blood flow—allowing thrombosis within a volume formed by the ball.

Abstract: Some embodiments are directed to methods and systems for percutaneously treating dissections in a patient's vasculature, such as, without limitation, the aorta. The method can include deploying a catheter containing a collapsed anchoring element, frame, and cover through a first vessel to an entry point of the dissection. The anchoring element can be secured to the second branch vessel. The frame can be expanded in the first branch vessel. The cover can be unfolded over at least a portion of the entry point. The cover then reduces blood flow into the entry point.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a resorbable polymeric mesh implant, that is intended to be used in the reconstruction of soft tissue defects. The mesh implant comprises at least a first and a second material, wherein the second material is substantially degraded at a later point in time than the first material following the time of implantation. The mesh implant is adapted to have a predetermined modulus of elasticity that gradually is decreased until the mesh implant is completely degraded and subsequently resorbed. Due to the gradual decrease in the modulus of elasticity of the inventive mesh implant, the regenerating tissue may gradually take over the load applied to the tissue defect area.
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a medical device and method of use, and more specifically to a method and apparatus with coaxial components used to treat venous diseases. The apparatus according to various embodiments operates as an inferior vena cava filter, a clot puller, a clot shredder, and as a prosthetic venous valve.
Abstract: A system for delivering an implant within a patient is described. The activation of the heater coil causes the degradation, melting or reduction of a component that brings the heater coil into or out of electrical contact with another component, or causes the individual loops of the coil to contact each other, thereby resulting a notable change in resistance in the circuit supplying the heater coil with electricity. A core wire terminates prior to the distal end of the device, allowing for greater flexibility.
