Abstract: A superconducting magnet device configured for an NMR spectrometer includes a split type superconducting magnet having left and right solenoid superconducting magnets, wherein the split type superconducting magnet has a center space around a vertical center axis between the left and right solenoid superconducting magnets, a sample tube placed in the center space in order to enable placement of a sample therein, which is energized by the magnetic field generated by the split type superconducting magnet, a solenoid coil configured for detecting signals due to magnetic resonance from the energized sample, and a permanent current switch for holding the split type superconducting magnet to a permanent current mode.
Abstract: An improved design for a solid state X-ray detector that decreases the amount of moisture diffusion that occurs through seals used to attach a cover to a glass substrate panel, thereby protecting the scintillator from moisture damage. In one embodiment, a second hermetic or semi-hermetic seal is introduced between the scintillator and the outside environment to increase the path moisture must travel to reach the scintillator. In another embodiment, a metal frame, preferably a Kovar® frame, is hermetically or semi-hermetically sealed to the cover and glass substrate panel, thereby decreasing the amount of moisture diffusion through the semi-hermetic seal as compared to the prior art.

Abstract: A method of stabilizing a clinical thermometer and the apparatus thereof are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of pre-heating the surrounding temperature to a pre-set temperature prior to using the clinical thermometer for measuring temperature; and providing compensational temperature by way of heat energy by a control circuit such that the surrounding temperature is maintained and stabilized at the pre-set temperature so as to avoid the change of the surrounding temperature from affecting the measured temperature. The stabilizing devices for a clinical thermometer comprises a clinical thermometer probe head which is a material capable of producing heat energy; and a heating controller connected to the probe head which provides cavity heating for the probe head prior to temperature measuring to the pre-set surrounding temperature, thereby the heating controller causes the surrounding temperature to maintain at a constant and stable temperature such that the precision of measuring is accurate.
Abstract: A calorimeter that includes a sample cell, a reference cell, a pressure system that applies a variable pressure to the sample cell, and a pressure controller that controls the pressure applied by the pressure system to the sample sell. By applying identical pressure perturbations to both the sample and reference cells over a range of temperature, the calorimeter can be used to accurately calculate both the thermal coefficient of expansion of various substances, and the volume change of molecules undergoing a structural transition.

Abstract: Head for checking linear dimensions of parts in machine tools or measuring machines, with a casing, a movable arm-set including an arm carrying a feeler for contacting the part to be checked, a biasing device arranged between the casing and the movable arm-set, a detecting device for providing a signal depending on the position of the movable arm-set, and two constraining systems—between the casing and the movable arm-set—both totally with force closure under the action of the biasing device, that eliminate, in a univocal way, the six degrees of freedom of the movable arm-set, one of the two constraining systems featuring a structure with rotational symmetry.
Abstract: A template 10 can be used to mark or scribe either a single gang opening or a dual gang opening for mounting an electrical box in a wall. The template is especially adapted to mark openings for “old work” boxes mounted directly to drywall. The template 10 includes a vertical level 16 and a horizontal level 18 protruding from the front face of the template 10 so that the template can be squared in either a horizontal or a vertical orientation. The level are mounted in housings 20, 30 that protrude far enough to form finger grips. The openings are cut around the periphery of the template and vertical slots 38, 44 are provided intermediate the sides of the template to form an opening for a single gang box. A dual gang box opening can be marked primarily using the peripheral edges of the template 10.
Abstract: A chalk collector is provided which can be easily affixed to a conventional wheel type chalk line assembly. The collector includes a fine passageway which gathers excess chalk as the chalk line is withdrawn from the housing. Apertures or conduits are provided for returning the chalk to the chalk line assembly housing for reuse.
