  • Patent number: 10236990
Abstract: A device including a remote control of remote operation of the device is described. The remote control includes a key matrix and a microprocessor. The microprocessor processes key scan codes from the key matrix and converts the key scan codes to amplitude modulated remote control commands for transmission by a wireless transmitter. The device includes components so that a user can operate the device locally without a remote control. The components in the device that enable local operation of the device are comparable to components in the remote control that enable remote operation of the device so that a minimum of changes are required in the device to enable local operation of the device.

  • Patent number: 10237710
Abstract: A control system for hazardous environments decreases flame paths, decreases punctures to the control system when installing interfaces, and increases safety. The control system may be characterized as a “one size fits all” controller that is able to automatically recognize a plurality of user interfaces. The controller has an enclosure to which the interfaces can be attached. The interfaces may interact with control electronics wholly contained in the enclosure using a variety of “wireless” mechanisms. Such mechanisms include reflecting light waves, infrared (IR) communication, radio-frequency identification, inductive coils, short-range wireless communication, camera images, piezoelectricity, and magnetism, and the like. The interfaces may include switches, indicator lights, smoke detectors, and the like.

  • Patent number: 10191544
Abstract: A remote control including a sensing device incorporated into wristband and having sensors to provide signal inputs relating to the pitch, roil and yaw movements of a user's wrist. A continuous feedback loop with a drift detector receives the sensor signal inputs and a rotation matrix input and uses the sensor signal inputs to calculate a numerical error, A proportional-integral controller receives the calculated numerical error output from the drift detector and outputs a control output to a drift adjuster. A gyroscope provides an input to the drift adjuster to correct for instrument drift and to provide an output to conduct a kinematics and normalization calculation and output a rotation matrix. The feedback loop employs upper and Sower bounds for the rotational matrix to eliminate grossly anomalous feedback numerical errors in sensor device inputs due to sudden angle changes in pitch, roll, or yaw.

  • Patent number: 10181231
Abstract: A method of controlling access to a location secured by a lock mechanism. An access control management system (ACMS) administrates electronic keys for multiple locations and users carrying mobile units. A lock mechanism controls the lock mechanism at the location. Each of data records associated with lock control units includes key generation data for generating an electronic key for a corresponding lock control unit. A generated key is communicated from the ACMS to the user mobile unit. The key indicates an access right to the location and has an associated lock control unit identifier. The key is communicated from the user mobile unit to the lock control unit at the location, which authenticates the key and, subject to successful authentication of the key, operates the lock mechanism. The key includes a data item cryptographically protected between the ACMS and the lock control unit using a cryptographic key unknown to the user mobile unit.
