  • Patent number: 9789408
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to methods and systems for processing replacements to a target array by a plurality of source arrays. Selected tokens in a target array may be replaced with corresponding tokens from a source array to generate a region of identical tokens, which may be processed or removed. Tokens in the target array may be shifted in a direction corresponding to the source array to fill empty cells within the target array and new tokens generated. Selections may be made from multiple source arrays iteratively, with shift directions dynamically modified.

  • Patent number: 9789391
Abstract: A computer graphics display system such as a video game system provides virtual camera 3-D viewpoint panning control based on a pointer. When the pointer is displayed within a virtual camera panning control region, the system automatically pans the virtual camera toward the pointer. When the pointer is displayed within a different region, panning is deactivated and the user can freely move the cursor (e.g., to control the direction a weapon is pointed) without panning the virtual camera viewpoint. Flexible viewpoint control and other animated features are provided based on a pointing device such as a handheld video game optical pointing control. Useful applications include but are not limited to first person shooter type video games.

  • Patent number: 9779585
Abstract: A gaming system, and method of controlling a gaming system, having a touchscreen, that simulates a game of skill by showing a graphical object and detecting a pair of spaced-apart user input touch points on the touchscreen. An increase in distance between the touch points corresponds to an increase in stress upon the object, which is animated on the touchscreen, and scaling of an associated reward. A failure threshold is selected and the increase in stress is tested against the failure threshold. The failure threshold may be at least partly randomized. If the stress exceeds the threshold, then a failure event is shown. If the touch input ceases, the user may elect to accept then current reward value or to continue. The object may be a bubble and the stress may be expansion of the bubble, leading to popping of the bubble if the expansion exceeds the failure threshold.

  • Patent number: 9764233
Abstract: A system and method for providing offline asynchronous user activity in a player versus player online game is disclosed. A client computing platform associated with a first user may maintain a connection to the game server that hosts a game space at which an online game takes place. The client computing platform may include a game state repository that stores a game space for the game state and a game logic repository that stores game logic for the online game. When the client computing platform disconnects from the game server, an expression of the game space is maintained at the client computing platform. While disconnected, the client computing platform may receive instructions for one or more actions to be taken in the game space and may execute the actions in the online game. When a connection is established with the game server, the executed actions may be verified.

  • Patent number: 9764212
Abstract: In exemplary implementations of this invention, a basketball net or flat net measures the translational kinetic energy of a ball that passes through an aperture in the net or impacts the net. The net includes one or more electrically conductive cords, which have a resistance that varies depending on the degree to which the cord is stretched. From sensor measurements, a processor determines: (a) instantaneous rate of change of resistance, and (b) duration of a time period that begins when resistance exceeds a baseline (with hysteresis). In the case of a basketball net, a processor may calculate the translational kinetic energy of the ball as equal to a sum of two terms. The first term is inversely proportional to the square of the duration; the second is proportional to the square of the integral of the instantaneous rate of change of resistance over the time period.

  • Patent number: 9767650
Abstract: A gaming system for conducting a wagering game includes input device(s), display device(s), processor(s), and memory device(s). The memory devices store instructions that, when executed, cause the gaming system to receive a wager to initiate each instance of the wagering game, randomly select a game outcome for each instance of the wagering game, display the randomly selected game outcome for each instance, and initiate a special event in response to an occurrence of a triggering event during an instance of the wagering game. At least two of the randomly selected outcomes include a first special symbol that has a dynamic secondary element. The dynamic secondary element represents a first enhancement in a first instance and a second enhancement in a second instance of the wagering game. The triggering event and special event are associated with at least one special symbol. The special event is modified by the dynamic secondary element.

  • Patent number: 9744582
Abstract: A stamping die includes an upper die member, a lower die member, and at least one guidance member operably disposed to guide relative movement between the upper and lower die members. The members are movable relative to one another in reciprocating motion along an axis to generate work-pieces. The guidance member has a guiding surface for guiding relative movement between the die members. The guidance member also has at least one wear indicator cavity recessed from the guiding surface. A depth of the wear indicator cavity corresponds to the extent of acceptable wear of the guiding surface. The cavity allows for visual inspection of the extent of wear of the at least one guidance member and thus obviates the requirement that the guidance member be removed from the stamping die for inspection.

  • Patent number: 9747744
Abstract: A gaming device displays a symbol matrix including a plurality of symbol positions and at least two symbol staging areas, each symbol staging area including at least one supplemental symbol potentially shiftable into the symbol matrix. The gaming device displays a symbol staging area indicator. For a play of a game, the gaming device generates a symbol in each symbol position of the symbol matrix. Upon an occurrence of a triggering condition, the gaming device indicates one of the symbol staging areas using the symbol staging area indicator and removes at least one symbol from at least one symbol position of the symbol matrix. The gaming device re-populates the empty symbol positions by shifting any appropriate symbols of the symbol matrix any appropriate empty symbol positions, and thereafter shifting at least one supplemental symbol from the indicated symbol staging area into at least one remaining empty symbol position.
