Patent number: 6910689Abstract: A method and system for correcting paper registration skew. A skew or paper registration error of a sheet moving in a feed path is detected. A coarse adjustment, or copy paper registration, using full steps is performed until the registration error is reduced to a minimum value, below a full step. The frequency of one motor with respect to the other, or a reference, or reference motors, is adjusted for a fixed period to enable a fine adjustment to correct the registration error.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2003Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Kevin M. Patent number: 6874782Abstract: A sheet detection system comprising: a first sheet transport for transporting a sheet along a first sheet transport path; at least second and third sheet transports for selectively transporting a sheet transported along the first sheet transport path along second and third spaced and substantially parallel sheet transport paths which branch from the first sheet transport path; a radiation source for emitting a beam of radiation which intersects the second and third sheet transport paths in the region where the second and third paths branch from the first path; a radiation detector for detecting the radiation beam; and a control for controlling the first, second and third sheet transports the radiation source and the radiation detector, such that when a sheet which is transported along the first sheet transport path by the first sheet transport is caused to be transported along one of the second or third transport paths, interruption or lack of interruption of the radiation beam by the sheet is detected by theType: GrantFiled: November 21, 2002Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: John H. Patent number: 6443291Abstract: The method and apparatus (10) for moving and positioning parts (150, 250, 350 or 450) on workpieces (160) is described. The apparatus includes a vibratory bowl (12), a conveyance and feed system and a positioning cylinder (82). The bowl aligns the parts and orients the parts using a gauge (16, 216, 316 or 416). The conveyance and feed system moves the parts through a conduit (34) using an escapement (44) to feed the parts one at a time to the positioning cylinder. The positioning cylinder has a pneumatic piston (90) with a piston rod (100) having an extension (102) and tip (104). An electromagnet (112) is mounted at one end of the positioning cylinder. When activated, the positioning cylinder extends the piston rod such that the tip extends into an opening (150D, 250D, 350D or 450D) in the part. The electromagnet is activated simultaneously and sends a charge down the piston rod which charges the extension which is constructed of a magnetic material.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2001Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Inventor: Ernest M. Patent number: 6076806Abstract: An end cap assembly which has recessed areas in the base and cover which accept protruding spindles on the upper and lower surfaces of the pulley to align the pulley, provides easy access to the pulley without removal of the track by attaching the base portion of the assembly but not the cover portion to the track, and is Constructed of higher strength and more durable materials than previous end cap assemblies available, resisting cracking even in extreme environments.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1998Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Inventor: Noel Zemla

Patent number: 5547643Abstract: In the improved apparatus for treating flue gases by irradiation with electron beams, ammonia is added at a position in the direction of the flue gas stream that is upstream of the center of electron beams applied within the reactor and which is not more than 2.5 times the range of electron beams, preferably not more than 2.0 times, more preferably not more than 1.5 times, most preferably from 0.5 to 1.0 times said range. Ammonia is supplied in any one of the following ways; (1) only ammonia is supplied; (2) both ammonia and air are supplied; (3) both ammonia and water are supplied; and (4) ammonia, air and water are all supplied. From an operational viewpoint, ammonia is preferably supplied as diluted in the form of a mixture of heated ammonia and dry air (having preferably a dew point of -15.degree. C. or less at one atmosphere). It is also effective to supply ammonia through pipes that are arranged to contour the spherical divergence of electron beams.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1995Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Ebara CorporationInventors: Masao Nomoto, Kenji Fujita, Hideo Hayashi

Patent number: 5369091Abstract: A process for producing YBCO powders by pyrolysis involves preparing a clear aqueous solution containing the ions yttrium, barium and copper, in the final proportions desired for the powder, in the form of complex compounds, preferably citric complex compounds, and in the presence of a detonating system such as a combination of ammonium ions and nitrate ions. The clear solution is then concentrated by evaporation, until a violent combustion is triggered which is carried out at a high temperature, higher than 250.degree. C. and preferably higher than 850.degree. Patent number: 5269466Abstract: Known variable nozzle actuating mechanisms are of complicated construction. This is acceptable where the devices are used on engines which power manually controlled aircraft. The invention although usable on engines used as described above, is particularly useful on engines which power pilotless vehicles i.e. missiles by virtue of its simplicity and therefore reliability. The variable nozzle has flaps which are held in a first throat constricting position by a knuckle mechanism. Opening of the throat is achieved by moving ram rods to the left as viewed in the drawings, to straighten the knuckle mechanism about an intermediate pivot. Gas loads on the inner surfaces of the flaps push the flaps outwards. At all operating positions of the flaps except this fully open position, gas loads are transferred via the knuckle mechanisms onto the fixed cowl. Secondary flaps may be included.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1983Date of Patent: December 14, 1993Assignee: Rolls-Royce plcInventor: Addison C. Maguire

Patent number: 4683116Abstract: A nuclear reactor in which control rods are inserted in the thimbles of only certain of the fuel assemblies (which may be called controlled assemblies) in the core and the remainder of the assemblies (which may be called non-controlled assemblies) are provided with hollow structural members containing burnable poison which form these non-controlled assemblies into integrated units. The hollow structural members are formed with end plugs welded to the lower end and are open at the top. The end plug of each member is secured to the bottom nozzle of the non-controlled fuel assembly. A skeleton is formed of the bottom nozzle, the structural members secured to it and a plurality of grids spaced along the structural members. A bulge tool is then inserted in each hollow member and it is on each side of each grid. Neutron absorbers are then inserted in each hollow member and an upper end plug is welded to it. The fuel rods are then inserted in the assembly and the upper end plugs are secured to the top nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1985Date of Patent: July 28, 1987Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: Harry M. Patent number: 4495552Abstract: A lamp is provided for use on vehicles, which lamp is of the type wherein the light rays are projected forwardly in a predetermined pattern. The predetermined pattern is generated by virtue of a generally continuous grid of the reflector within the lamp, and the lamp does not need a prismatic lens system at the location where the light rays eminate from the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1982Date of Patent: January 22, 1985Assignee: Cal Custom Accessories, Inc.Inventor: Henry W.
