  • Patent number: 7640071
Abstract: The present invention generally comprises a method for achieving fault tolerance in a PV FAB. A plurality of processing tools may be coupled together along a processing line, and a plurality of substantially identical processing lines may be arranged within the FAB. Whenever a processing tool within any processing line is shut-down, rather than shut-down the entire processing line containing the shut-down processing tool, work-pieces may be routed around the shut-down processing tool by transferring the work-pieces to an adjacent processing line within the FAB. At a location after the shut-down processing tool, the work-pieces may be transferred back to the processing line containing the shut-down processing tool. During the time period that the processing tool is shut-down, the other processing lines within the FAB may increase their throughput in order to maintain a substantially constant optimum throughput for the FAB over a given period of time.

  • Patent number: 7623942
Abstract: A method and system for selecting dental constructions using translucent materials that match an individual's preexisting tooth appearance uses a set of reference templates. The reference templates are constructed from layers of various translucent dental materials positioned on bases constructed from actual or simulated tooth structures. The layers of translucent materials have a thickness that varies in increments that correspond to the likely thicknesses of the materials when used in dental constructions. A reference table is created based upon color measurements of each of the reference templates. A color measurement of the individual's preexisting teeth is then compared to the reference table to determine which particular dental construction will most closely match the individuals preexisting teeth.

  • Patent number: 7623941
Abstract: A method for adjusting the relative position of devices of a laser engraver. The method includes an outputting device of the laser engraver to forms a marked point on a non-working piece. Let the outputting device position the center of the marked point and record it. Then an image sensing device of the laser engraver is moved to the marked point and seeks the center of the marked point. Then, the position point that the outputting device is located is recorded after the outputting device moved according to the movement of the image sensing device. Finally, calculating the distance between the center recorded by the outputting device and the position point recorded after the outputting device moved to obtain the precise distance between the image sensing device and the outputting device.

  • Patent number: 7620464
Abstract: A method for operating a process plant, in which at the process level a number of items of alarm information are generated to display improper operating procedures of the process plant, has a defined number of process states of the process plant, wherein each process state is correlated with the total of all items of alarm information that can be generated. A first value or a second value is allocated as the correlation value to each pair formed from a process state and an item of alarm information. A current operating state of the process plant is determined As a function of the determined process state, items of alarm information are not displayed to which the first value has been allocated as the correlation value.

  • Patent number: 7610112
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments provide a computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for processing orders. A request for delivery by a requested delivery date is received for an order having an original delivery date. The ordered product is broken down into one or more materials required for manufacturing the ordered product. For at least one material required for manufacturing the ordered product, a date when an engineering change becomes effective for the material is specified. An alternate bill of materials is created based on the specified date when the engineering change becomes effective for the material. An alternate manufacturing plan based on the alternate bill of materials is created. Manufacturing is initiated based on the alternate manufacturing plan. If manufacturing can be completed in time for delivery by the requested delivery date, the original delivery date of the order is replaced with the requested delivery date.

  • Patent number: 7496414
Abstract: A system and method for predicting operation of a plant or process receive an input value from the plant or process. An integrity of a non-linear model corresponding to a local input space of the input value may be determined. The non-linear model may include an empirical representation of the plant or process. If the integrity is above a first threshold, non-linear model may be used to provide a first output value. However, if the integrity is below the first threshold, a linearized first principles model may be used to provide a second output value. The linearized first principles model may include an analytic representation of the plant or process. Additionally, the analytic representation of the plant or process may be independent of the empirical representation of the plant or process. The first output value and/or the second output value may be usable to manage the plant or process.
