  • Patent number: 12323735
Abstract: A method for transmitting web-conference content over a network connection is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method conducts a web conference over a network connection. The method monitors characteristics of the network connection in order to determine bandwidth of the network connection during the web conference. The method implements, on the network connection, a “raw” mode wherein audio data of the web conference is transmitted over the network connection in an original format. Upon detecting a low bandwidth condition on the network connection, the method toggles from the “raw” mode to a “saving” mode where audio data of the web conference is converted to text at a first end of the network connection, transmitted over the network connection as text, and converted from text back to audio data at a second end of the network connection. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 12277948
Abstract: Higher Order Ambisonics represents three-dimensional sound independent of a specific loudspeaker set-up. However, transmission of an HOA representation results in a very high bit rate. Therefore compression with a fixed number of channels is used, in which directional and ambient signal components are processed differently. For coding, portions of the original HOA representation are predicted from the directional signal components. This prediction provides side information which is required for a corresponding decoding. By using some additional specific purpose bits, a known side information coding processing is improved in that the required number of bits for coding that side information is reduced on average.

  • Patent number: 12273695
Abstract: Audio perception in local proximity to visual cues is provided. A device includes a video display, first row of audio transducers, and second row of audio transducers. The first and second rows can be vertically disposed above and below the video display. An audio transducer of the first row and an audio transducer of the second row form a column to produce, in concert, an audible signal. The perceived emanation of the audible signal is from a plane of the video display (e.g., a location of a visual cue) by weighing outputs of the audio transducers of the column. In certain embodiments, the audio transducers are spaced farther apart at a periphery for increased fidelity in a center portion of the plane and less fidelity at the periphery.

  • Patent number: 12260151
Abstract: An example playback device is configured to receive a first stream of audio comprising source audio content to be played back by the playback device and record, via one or more microphones of the playback device, an audio signal output by the playback device based on the playback device playing the source audio content. The playback device is also configured to determine a transfer function between a frequency-domain representation of the first stream of audio and a frequency-domain representation of the recorded audio signal, and then determine an estimated frequency response of the playback device based on a difference between (i) the transfer function and (ii) a self-response of the playback device, where the self-response of the playback device is stored in a memory of the playback device. Based on the estimated frequency response, the playback device is configured to determine an acoustic calibration adjustment and implement the acoustic calibration adjustment.
