  • Patent number: 9479978
Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure include methods in which a core network controller determines which femtocell base station to handover a cellular device to. Methods include comparing a cell parameter difference provided by a base station with a cell parameter difference provided by the cellular device. The cell parameter difference provided by the base station is the cell parameter difference between the base station and each neighboring base station. The cell parameter difference provided by the cellular device is the cell parameter difference between the base station through which the cellular device is currently associated with to the core network and each neighboring base station. The core network controller compares the cell parameter difference provided by the cellular device with the cell parameter difference provided by the base station. The core network hands the cellular device to the base station when the cell parameter difference provided by each are substantially equivalent.

  • Patent number: 9408178
Abstract: In some implementations, a method includes receiving, from a server, location data identifying locations of access points and mobile access points. A mobile device may determine an identifier of an access point within a communication range. The identifier is compared with the location data to identify parameters for the access point. The access point is determined to be a mobile access point based on the identified parameters included in the location data. In response to identifying the mobile access point, operating parameters executed by the mobile device are updated.

  • Patent number: 9294985
Abstract: A vPBX server manages calls in a bridged line appearance (BLA) group. A BLA group can include extensions for location-aware mobile devices. The vPBX server contains location based forwarding rules that can be applied together with BLA redirection rules in managing incoming calls. A single extension can appear as a user interface element (e.g., an icon or button) on multiple mobile devices. Using the user interface element, a primary user can view a secondary user's status, including the secondary user's location information. The vPBX server allows the primary user to redirect the incoming calls to devices in accordance with the forwarding rules and the redirection rules.

  • Patent number: 9264914
Abstract: A method for monitoring paging messages in a mobile station with a subscriber identity card camping on a cell is provided. A paging channel is monitored at every end of predetermined time interval subsequent to the last monitored time. It is detected whether the same identity information is repeatedly broadcasted in the paging channel at different ends of predetermined time interval. A new time interval is determined when detecting that the same identity information is repeatedly broadcasted. The paging channel is monitored at every end of new time interval subsequent to the last monitored time so as to receive subsequent paging messages from the cell, wherein the new time interval is longer than the predetermined time interval.

  • Patent number: 9258846
Abstract: A system can provide quality-of-service based network resource allocation and utilization in a dynamic network environment. A system may determine a current quality level of current media data presented to a user by a remote system in communication with the first system. The system may determine if it can provide subsequent media data to the remote system at a higher quality level than the current quality level. As one example, the system may identify a network connection with the remote system that supports providing the subsequent media data at the higher quality level to the remote system. The system may then obtain the subsequent media data at the higher quality level and send the subsequent media data at the higher quality level to the remote system.

  • Patent number: 9253686
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for assigning wireless-network technologies to base stations within a base station cluster. A first set of base stations is associated to form a first base station cluster. Once associated into the base station cluster, the total estimated demand on each wireless-network technology is determined for each of the base stations in the cluster. The technology having the highest total estimated demand is also determined for each of the base stations in the cluster. A first RF channel in the cluster is assigned the technology for which the majority of the base stations in the cluster have the highest total estimated demand. This process is carried out for the remaining RF channels in the cluster.

  • Patent number: 9232053
Abstract: The present application provides “hot desking” features for multi-device users. A number of automatic hot desking registrations are provided in which users are assigned multiple devices on a permanent basis. A private branch exchange or central switch can be provided with a list of these devices and can relieve the user of the requirement of registration by detecting use of these devices and assigning user features and other pertinent system properties e.g. as an indication of location for find me/follow me services. The extension allows for automatically hot desking using a listed device, hot desking based on a location associated with a listed device, and hot desking using declared associations of listed devices.

  • Patent number: 9167398
Abstract: This publication discloses a method and system for delivering messages in a telecommunications network (1, 2, 6, 11, 12). In the method a voice-message call attempt is received (43), or a connection is formed to a potential user of a service, on the basis of a voice-message call attempt. According to the invention, as a response to the voice-message connection formed or to the call attempt, to the second part (41) of the connection is sent a text-form message, which initiates a long, logically continuous, temporally discontinuous session N, in such a way that the sender address (e.g., the A number) is converted to correspond to the session number N and the session stage J at the time, and in the message there is at least one selection query.
