Patent number: 4876590Abstract: Video imaging apparatus provides a relatively lower resolution verification image from a high resolution image sensor. By orienting a color filter array so that the luminance (green) elements are arranged in same-color stripes parallel to the horizontal scanning direction, the luminance elements may be subsampled for greater flexibility in generating the lower resolution image. A memory stores the discrete image signals from the image sensor and accesses the signals in two modes: a high resolution recording mode for addressing substantially all the image signals and a low resolution display mode for addressing only those signals from lines of same-color (green) filter elements. The low resolution addressing can be based on a variety of line sampling patterns corresponding to the line capability and horizontal resolution of a display device.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1988Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventor: Kenneth A. Patent number: 4868668Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling a characteristic of an optical image generated by a video projection system of the type wherein illumination light is passed through a polarizing means and then directed to a light modulation device which receives a light image and provides an polarization modulated optical image as outgoing light, the outgoing light being passed through a projection lens to display the optical image. According to the present invention, a portion of the outgoing light is sampled and the sampled portion is directed to a detector which detects characteristics of the outgoing light. The detected characteristics are then compared with the corresponding desired characteristics exhibited by a test pattern image. The differences between the detected characteristics and the desired characteristics are measured and the measured differences are utilized to generate correction factors for controlling the outgoing light such that the outgoing light exhibits the desired characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1987Date of Patent: September 19, 1989Assignee: Electrohome LimitedInventor: Russell E. Patent number: 4866509Abstract: A video signal generating system develops an encoded video signal representing less than all of the video information. Auxiliary signal generating circuitry develops a pair of auxiliary signals representing in part the remaining video information. A first of the pair of auxiliary signals includes relatively high fidelity signal but with limited bandwidth. The second auxiliary signal includes relatively low fidelity information but has an effective higher bandwidth. Depending upon the information density of the auxiliary information, the first and second auxiliary signals are selected to produce an auxiliary output signal which is combined with the encoded video signal for transmission. A receiver responsive to the transmitted signal separates the video and auxiliary signals. The video and auxiliary signals are decoded and used to generate enhanced display images.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Allan A. Patent number: 4866524Abstract: In a system in which there are available several pictures the device according to the invention enables the management of the overlays of pictures by implementing a mechanism according to which transition points are defined during the scanning. At these transition points, the mode of display changes. The horizontal position of these points and the nature of the display change are contained in a special register (13). An abscissa comparator (12) continuously compares the current abscissa and the abscissa indicated in the register (13) and, after an abscissa identity has been found and a new overlay mode has been set up, the next word in the register (13) is taken into account. Means (5, 8) enable the content of the register (13) to be reloaded during the line scan return periods.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: U. S. Patent number: 4860104Abstract: In a noise eliminating apparatus including a recursive filter having a delay circuit to delay a video signal by only a predetermined period of time, each of recursive coefficients of a plurality of spatial frequency components included in the difference signal between the input video signal and the delayed video signal is changed in accordance with a movement detection output based on the difference signal. Thus, the dimming due to the motion of an image can be reduced to such a level that no visual problem occurs and the high frequency noises are also eliminated because of the correlation between the frames. Therefore, the dimming phenomenon due to the motion of the image in the moving portion can be reduced and the sufficient noise elimating effect can be obtained.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1988Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Assignee: Pioneer Electronic CorporationInventor: Hitoshi Katsuyama

Patent number: 4835601Abstract: Disclosed is a laser beam scanning system having a laser source for producing a plurality of laser beams each having a different wavelength which are deflected by an acousto-optical deflector to scan an object in at least one direction to produce a video signal representative of the object color image. Because of color dispersion inherent to the acousto-optical deflector, the angle of deflection is dependent on the wavelength of the laser beams. To compensate for the color dispersion, a signal processor is provided to process the video signals derived from the scanning of the object in such a manner that the video signals are processed differently in terms of scanning time one from the other and are output using the same timing.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1988Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Assignee: Kowa Company Ltd.Inventor: Koji Kobayashi
