  • Patent number: 6729628
Abstract: A brake assembly for applying a braking force to one or more wheels of a wheel supported device, such as an inline skate. The brake assembly has a rotating brake member held by one or more wheels, which is preferably a disk shaped brake, partially embedded on one or both sides of a wheel. A fixed brake member is held so that it does not turn with respect to the wheel frame. The fixed brake member has a friction surface positioned adjacent the braking surface of the rotating member. The fixed brake member can be bent so that its friction surface contacts the rotating brake member to apply a braking force to the rotation of the wheel. Preferably, the fixed brake member is bent by a cam surface and the cam surface is contacted by a movable brake arm held by the frame.

  • Patent number: 6726234
Abstract: A hitch (10) with a lock indicator system (16) interacts with a rotor (18) to provide an indication that a kingpin (14) is properly inserted into the hitch. The rotor rotates in response to proper insertion of the kingpin to align a rotor slot (20) with a plunger (24). Once the rotor slot and the plunger are aligned, an indicator (28) moves from a first position, indicating an unlocked kingpin, to a second position, indicating a locked kingpin. A control pin (74, 174) prevents rotation of the rotor from improper insertion of the kingpin. The control pin is controlled by a control lever (70, 170).

  • Patent number: 6722689
Abstract: A jogging stroller for carrying a baby includes three wheels mounted on a frame that holds a cloth seat and includes frame rails that project upwardly and rearwardly from a single front wheel to a horizontal handlebar member at the rear of the stroller. A pair of handles are attached to the handlebar members by a clamp and these include a stem member that extends outwardly from the stroller handlebar and are connected to a perpendicular handle element that can rotate about the stem member and the stem members can be rotated about the axis of the horizontal stroller handlebar and can be slid along the handlebar. The handle elements can be fixed in space in a position desired by the user or can be left loose enough to rotate during use. The handle elements have a coil spring inside a grip member, allowing the handles to flex as the user jogs, thereby permitting more natural motion of the hands and shoulders during jogging.

  • Patent number: 6715773
Abstract: A binding (10) for securing a snowboarder's boot to a snowboard (12). The binding includes a baseplate (16) in which a plurality of apertures (38) are formed. Each aperture receives the base (50) of an adjustable dampening assembly (37). The dampening assembly (37) is retained in place by a flange (54) projecting from the lower extremity of the perimeter of the base, which is captured between the baseplate and the snowboard upper surface. A dampening pad (52) is threadably inserted into an internally threaded aperture formed in the base. The dampening pad can be twisted, either by contacting the upper surface (60) of the dampening pad with a thumb or with a driver tool. Twisting of the dampening pad selectively adjusts the height of the dampening pad, which has an elastomeric head, above the baseplate to adjust the fit and vibration and shock absorption abilities of the binding.

  • Patent number: 6708789
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle control and operating system, a hybrid vehicle operated by the system, and a power supply arrangement for the hybrid vehicle where the drive of the hybrid vehicle is performed only by an electric motor driven by a generator under average power conditions and, under maximum power conditions, is driven by the generator and also by a battery bank that provides complementary energy to the electric motor. The bank of batteries accumulates energy exceeded by the generator and/or electric motor when the vehicle is under deceleration conditions or even stopped. The generator is driven by an internal combustion engine that supplies mechanical energy to the generator so that it can supply electric power to the electric motor and to the battery bank.

  • Patent number: 6698788
Abstract: A foldable structure for an infant stroller has a frame of an extended length for holding one or more seats. The frame is foldable and includes a handle bracket, armrests, front wheel brackets, rear wheel brackets and a seat bracket. The seat is mounted to the seat bracket. The seat has a backrest supported by an extendable rod. The extendable rod consists of an inner rod and an outer rod. The outer rod has a longitudinal trough to allow the inner rod to slide reciprocally therein. For installation, the inner rod is inserted into the longitudinal trough of the outer rod, pivotally engaged with the armrest, and the outer rod is pivotally engaged with the seat bracket. After completing all pivotal fastening, the armrest and seat bracket form a restriction to prevent the extendable rod from separating from the structure. When the frame is folding, the extendable rod is safer to use and more appealing because of no jutting screws or pins.

  • Patent number: 6681877
Abstract: A working vehicle is provided for improving safety and work efficiency by changing a travel speed limit appropriately depending on forms and conditions of work. The working vehicle is driven with an engine, and a working machine such as a working pump is mounted on the vehicle. Fuel supplied to the engine is regulated by an injector. Travel speeds of the working vehicle are detected with a vehicle speed sensor. A control unit is provided with a high speed travel mode which limits vehicle speed at or below a predetermined high speed limit and a low speed travel mode which limits vehicle speed at or below a low speed limit which is set below the high speed limit. In this way, either the high speed travel mode or the low speed travel mode is set according to a changeover signal from a travel mode changeover switch.
