Abstract: Diaminoalkyl di(sulfosuccinate) compounds useful as builders are disclosed together with a method for their preparation and detergent compositions for their use.

Abstract: Heavy duty liquid detergent compositions containing an anionic surfactant component and a quaternary ammonium fabric-softening agent of the formula ##STR1## The anionic surfactant component comprises, by weight of the composition, from about 5% to 40% of alkyl polyethoxylate sulfates and no more than about 5% of alkyl benzene sulfonates. The compositions are substantially clear and isotropic, provide excellent cleaning of soils and provide softening through the wash and anti-static benefits. The compositions preferably also contain a fatty acid component, ethoxylated nonionic surfactant, a detergent builder and enzymes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of highly concentrated free-flowing aqueous solutions of betaines, which is characterized in that at least one of the compounds of the general formula (I) ##STR1## is added to the reaction mixture before or during the quaternization reaction; wherein R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, are each C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, optionally substituted with hydroxyl, and n is 1-3.

Abstract: The invention provides a phase stable liquid detergent containing at least one particulate oxidant, comprising:a) a liquid phase which comprises: i) an effective amount of at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic, nonionic, cationic, amphoteric, zwitterionic surfactants, and mixtures thereof; ii) a liquid carrier therefore, comprising organic Solvents, water, or a mixture thereof;b) an effective amount of a particulate oxidant stably suspended in said liquid phase, which maintains oxidative stability, said oxidant being selected from the group consisting of alkali metal perborate and percarbonates; andc) an oxidant stabilizer selected from the group consisting of alkali metal chloride, alkali metal borate, boric acid and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: An improvement is described in microemulsion compositions which contain an anionic detergent, a nonionic surfactant, a grease release agent, a hydrocarbon ingredient, and water which comprises the use of a water-insoluble odoriferous perfume as the essential hydrocarbon ingredient in a proportion sufficient to form either a dilute o/w microemulsion composition containing, by weight, 1% to 20% of an anionic detergent, 6 to 50% of a cosurfactant, 0.1% to 10% of a grease release agent, 0.4% to 10% of perfume and the balance being water as well as all purpose hard surface cleaning composition or light duty liquid detergent compositions which contain a grease release agent.

Abstract: A synergistic cleaning composition has been discovered comprising an aqueous solution a quaternary ammonium compound component; a nonionic surfactant component; and a glycol ether solvent. Surprisingly, the combination of the quaternary ammonium compound component, the nonionic surfactant component, and glycol ether solvent provides a synergistic effect where the cleaning composition functions with a low level of quaternary ammonium compound component while still maintaining at least one of the following desirable properties, as follows: an acceptable cleaning efficacy; a low level irritation or toxicity profile; and/or a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity.
