Abstract: An antistatic liquid, and method of use thereof, comprising an ionizable electroconductive polymer, an alcohol and a suitable solvent, for suppressing electrostatic charges which might otherwise develop in certain procedures relating to the manipulation and transport of microspheres, microbeads, or other microscopic particles, as well as the suppression of the reformation of polymers which might otherwise interfere with such procedures.
Abstract: A composite body consisting of two or more formed parts of densely sintered aluminum oxide and a metal such as an envelope for a mercury vapor discharge lamp with a metal halide filling. The parts are connected together with material which comprises at least two of the oxides SiO.sub.2, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and B.sub.2 O.sub.3 and at least one of the trivalent oxides La.sub.2 O.sub.3 and Y.sub.2 O.sub.3. This material is applied at a relatively low temperature and is resistant to the gas filling up to approximately 1350.degree. C.

Abstract: Surface properties of solutions of fluorinated surfactants are improved by employing a fluorinated synergist (R.sub.f).sub.n T.sub.m Z wherein R.sub.f is a perfluorinated aliphatic group, T is alkylene, arylene, alkylenethio alkylene, alkyleneoxyalkylene or alkyleneiminoalkylene, Z is a neutral or a polar group, n is 1 or 2 and m is 0 to 2. The resulting synergistic surfactant compositions are useful for all applications where surfactants are employed.
Abstract: Antifoam compositions on the basis of a bis-.alpha.-hydroxyamine derivative of the formula ##STR1## wherein A is --NHCO--R.sub.3 --CONH-- or --NHCONH--R.sub.3 --NHCONH--, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are H or alkyl having 1 to 22 carbon atoms and the sum of the carbon atoms in R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, in each case, is from 8 to 22,R.sub.3 is alkylene having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, phenylene, alkylphenylene having 1 to 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl or a polysiloxane of the formula ##STR2## WHERE N = 2 OR 3 AND P = 2 TO 20; AS WELL AS THE PROCESS OF CONTROLLING FOAM IN A FOAMABLE LIQUID BY INTRODUCING THEREIN AN ANTIFOAM EFFECTIVE AMOUNT OF SAID BIS-.alpha.-HYDROXYAMINE DERIVATIVE. The antifoam bis-.alpha.-hydroxyamine derivatives are effective antifoam agents for most industrial purposes and are suitable for use in oil and latex paints.

Abstract: A colloidal dispersion of hydrous antimony pentoxide particles is made by a process which comprises introducing particles of an oxidizable antimony oxide into an aliphatic polyhydroxy alcohol having vicinal hydroxyl groups and contacting said particles with aqueous hydrogen peroxide at a temperature of from about 0.degree. C to about the decomposition temperature of the reaction mixture for a length of time sufficient to convert at least a portion of said particles to colloidal particles of hydrous antimony pentoxide.
