  • Patent number: 9514122
Abstract: Creating and processing a natural language grammar set of data based on an input text string are disclosed. The method may include tagging the input text string, and examining, via a processor, the input text string for at least one first set of substitutions based on content of the input text string. The method may also include determining whether the input text string is a substring of a previously tagged input text string by comparing the input text string to a previously tagged input text string, such that the substring determination operation determines whether the input text string is wholly included in the previously tagged input text string.

  • Patent number: 9489959
Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to more efficiently extend, using a low bit rate, the bandwidth of input signals having a harmonics structure, in order to obtain better audio quality. The present invention is installed in a device that extends bandwidth for audio signal encoding and decoding. This novel bandwidth extension encoding identifies a low-frequency spectrum component having the highest correlation to a high-frequency bandwidth signal among input signals, duplicates a high-frequency spectrum by energy adjustment of said component, and maintains the harmonic relationship between the low-frequency spectrum and the duplicated high-frequency spectrum by adjusting the spectral peak position of the duplicated high-frequency spectrum, on the basis of a harmonic frequency estimated from a composite low-frequency spectrum.

  • Patent number: 9454524
Abstract: A quality metric of a multimedia summary of a multimedia content item is determined based, in part, on semantic similarities of the summary and content item, rather than just on word frequencies. This is accomplished in some embodiments by identifying a semantic meaning of the summary and multimedia content item using vector analysis. The vectors of the summary and the vectors of the multimedia content item are compared to determine semantic similarity. In other examples, the quality metric of the multimedia summary is determined based on, in part, a coherence between an image portion of a summary and a text portion of the summary for determining a quality metric of a multimedia summary.

  • Patent number: 9445763
Abstract: Audio sounds are captured from a subject's body, e.g., using a smartphone or a worn array of microphones. Plural features are derived from the captured audio, and serve as fingerprint information. One such feature may be a time interval over which a threshold part of spectral energy in the audio is expressed. Another may be a frequency bandwidth within which a second threshold part of the spectral energy is expressed. Such fingerprint information is provided to a knowledge base that contains reference fingerprint data and associated metadata. The knowledge base matches the fingerprint with reference fingerprint data, and provides associated metadata in return—which can comprise diagnostic information related to the captured sounds. In some arrangements, an audio signal or pressure waveform stimulates the body at one location, and is sensed at another, to discern information about the intervening transmission medium. A great variety of other features and arrangements are also detailed.
