Patent number: 4282566Abstract: This invention provides a novel bracket for shock mounting a bulb within a housing for a lamp that is particularly intended for use with motorized vehicles, such as over-the-road trucks and the like. Basically, the novel bracket of the present invention comprises: a serpentine strip having polygonal apertures provided at its opposite ends and a bulb-receiving socket generally centrally located therein, the radial center of which socket is offset from the long central axis that extends between the apertures in the strip. Preferably, the strip is connected to the lamp housing by fastener means, portions of which are respectively passed through the polygonal apertures in the strip and prohibit pivotal movement of the apertures thereabout. It is also desirable that the fastener means portions comprise a pair of studs projecting from the lamp housing and being complementary in size and shape to the polygonal apertures in the strip through which they are respectively passed.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1979Date of Patent: August 4, 1981Assignee: The Grote Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventor: Charles J. Patent number: 4280872Abstract: In a fast reactor having a diagrid structure supported on the bottom wall of a reactor vessel containing the core and liquid metal coolant, a core catcher serves in the event of core melt-down to prevent hot debris carried down by the liquid metal from coming into contact with the vessel walls. The core catcher comprises a single collecting tray having a large area, a central chimney and a bearing shell extending parallel to the bottom wall of the reactor vessel. An enclosed space is formed between the bottom wall, the diagrid support structure and the diagrid and contains the collecting tray. Under melt-down conditions, the temperature differences produced by the molten fuel deposited on the tray and the presence of the central chimney have the effect of setting up a natural circulation of liquid metal and consequently of cooling the fuel.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1978Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Assignee: Commissariat a l'Energie AtomiqueInventors: Luciano Ferrari, Bernard Fourest, Gaston Kayser, Robert Martin

Patent number: 4281368Abstract: Disclosed is a tubular housing having a threaded-base lamp bulb at one end and a "penlite" battery within the housing with its positive terminal stud separated from the bulb's positive terminal by a helical compression spring. The spring coils receive the lamp base and the spring is bottomed and centered in an annular retainer disc encircling the positive terminal stud of the battery. A conductive strap engages the endmost coil of the spring and extends the length of the battery to its base providing electrical continuity from the battery negative terminal to the bulbs threaded base. A push button, accessible at the end of the housing, moves the battery so that its positive terminal engages the positive terminal of the bulb.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1979Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Inventor: A. Patent number: 4278500Abstract: The primary coolant fluid is circulated within at least one primary loop between a steam generator and a pressure vessel. Within the steam generator, the primary fluid flows through a tube bundle and exchanges heat with a secondary fluid which is admitted in the form of water and discharged in the form of steam. After expansion within turbines and recovery in a condenser, the steam is then returned into the generator. The primary fluid circulating pumps are each driven by a turbine which is fed with steam taken directly from the steam generator or from the main outlet duct of the generator. The essential objective of the invention is to dispense with the use of an electric motor for driving each primary fluid circulating pump.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1979Date of Patent: July 14, 1981Assignee: Commissariat a l'Energie AtomiqueInventors: Jean Ailloud, Marcel Monteil

Patent number: 4262325Abstract: An altar includes a plurality of candle holders for candles formed from glass containers having wax and a wick therein. The candle is placed on a base which is relatively wide to provide stability. A cover is placed over the candle which partially covers the top opening of the candle. The cover is formed from a ring having a chimney extending upward from the inner diameter of the ring and a conical flange extending downward and outward from the outer diameter of the ring. The chimney has a plurality of holes spaced around its base. A pair of holding rods connect the cover to the base so that the candle is held beween the cover and base to form a semi-rigid stable assembly. The cover, which may be used separately from the base, functions to prevent air currents over the top of the candle from causing the flame to flicker and smoke the inside of the glass container. The cover also keeps heat contained in the candle to melt the wax evenly across its surface.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1979Date of Patent: April 14, 1981Inventor: John A. M. Garcia
