  • Patent number: 11532178
Abstract: In real biometric systems, false match rates and false non-match rates of 0% do not exist. There is always some probability that a purported match is false, and that a genuine match is not identified. The performance of biometric systems is often expressed in part in terms of their false match rate and false non-match rate, with the equal error rate being when the two are equal. There is a tradeoff between the FMR and FNMR in biometric systems which can be adjusted by changing a matching threshold. This matching threshold can be automatically, dynamically and/or user adjusted so that a biometric system of interest can achieve a desired FMR and FNMR.

  • Patent number: 11527566
Abstract: A system and method interpret optical characterization examinations performed with a set of optical devices. Each device comprises one or more arrays of optical metasurface structures and have arrays tailored to have distinct properties making them differ from one another. First data and second data are accessed that capture a physical fingerprint of each device and an outcome of an optical characterization examination performed with each device, respectively. The outcomes of examinations performed are impacted by the respective, distinct properties of the arrays. Each device is identified based on the first data accessed, which makes it possible to obtain a readout key associated with the identified device. This readout key accounts for the respective one of the distinct properties. Finally, the second data are interpreted according to the readout key obtained to elucidate the outcome of the optical characterization examination. The invention is further directed to related computer program products.

  • Patent number: 11517253
Abstract: A device for liveness detection is disclosed. The liveness detecting device has a simplest structure that principally comprises a light sensing unit and a signal processing module. Particularly, the signal processing module is configured for having a physiological feature extracting unit and a liveness detecting unit therein. The physiological feature extracting unit is adopted for extracting a first physiological feature from a PPG signal, or extracting a second physiological feature from the PPG signal that has been applied with a signal process. As such, through the first and second physiological features, the liveness detecting unit is able to determine whether a subject is a living body or not. The liveness detecting device does not use any camera unit and iPPG technology, such that the liveness detecting device has advantages of simple structure, low cost and immediately completing liveness detection.

  • Patent number: 11514662
Abstract: In examples, a relative skin reflectance of a captured image of a subject is determined. The determination selects from the captured image pixels of the subject's face and pixels in the background and normalizes luminance values of the skin pixels using the background pixels. The relative skin reflectance value is determined for the captured image, based on the normalized luminance values of the skin pixels. Optionally the relative skin reflectance value is qualified, based on thresholds of skin reflectance values, as suitable for biometric use. Optionally, a non-qualifying captured image is flagged and, optionally, another image is acquired, or the non-conforming image is processed further to transform the image into a suitable image for biometric analysis.

  • Patent number: 11462000
Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that detect surfaces and reflections in such surfaces. Some implementations involve providing a CGR environment that includes virtual content that replaces the appearance of a user or the user's device in a mirror or other surface providing a reflection. For example, a CGR environment may be modified to include a reflection of the user that does not include the device that the user is holding or wearing. In another example, the CGR environment is modified so that virtual content, such as a newer version of the electronic device or a virtual wand, replaces the electronic device in the reflection. In another example, the CGR environment is modified so that virtual content, such as a user avatar, replaces the user in the reflection.

  • Patent number: 11423563
Abstract: Systems, methods, tangible non-transitory computer-readable media, and devices associated with depth estimation are provided. For example, a feature representation associated with stereo images including a first and second plurality of points can be accessed. Sparse disparity estimates associated with disparities between the first and second plurality of points can be determined. The sparse disparity estimates can be based on machine-learned models that estimate disparities based on comparisons of the first plurality of points to the second plurality of points. Confidence ranges associated with the disparities between the first and second plurality of points can be determined based on the sparse disparity estimates and the machine-learned models. A disparity map for the stereo images can be generated based on using the confidence ranges and machine-learned models to prune the disparities outside the confidence ranges.

  • Patent number: 11393183
Abstract: A substrate and a covering structure coupled to the substrate form a chamber. The chamber houses an emitter configured to emit a radiation, a resonant reflector, a detector, and a fixed reflector. First and second windows extend through the covering structure. The emitter, the first reflector and the second reflector are reciprocally arranged such that radiation emitted from the emitter is reflected by the fixed reflector towards the MEMS reflector for further reflection towards the first window to form an output signal. The detector and the second window are reciprocally arranged such that an incoming radiation passing through the second window is received by the detector. The electronic module can be used for a 3D sensing application.
